Just because we don't view Tennessee the same way you view Alabama doesn't make it any less legitimate, TnM.

It all comes back to college football started in 2000 for LSU fans. Prior to that was 100 years of preseason.

We don't like UT now. Didn't like them with Dooley. Didn't like them with Kiffin. Didn't like them with Fulmer. Didn't like them with Majors. Didn't like them with Battle. Didn't like them with Dickey. And so on...

It isn't a real rivalry IMO. Just some sort of weird one way homo vibe from bama to UT IMO. UT doesn't seem to like bama, so appears to be a one way thing.
You are one stupid SOB.

I remember back when Dooley was hired, Bama fans were tripping over themselves to explain how Dooley was a Saban protege and UT would be competing for championships in no time
Most of us were laughing because Dooley even sucked at La Tech.

Most of the Bama fans I know IRL hate UT substantially more than Auburn actually. That's especially true after Fulmer ratted on them.

I will admit that I enjoyed watching them bumble around and lose a lot of games but I'm ready for them to start being competitive again. I want good Third Saturday games.

quote:Bingo! You see, my friend, you can't refer to SEC football history without starting with the Alabama program. Since 1926 when Alabama made southern football relevant on a national level with their Rose Bowl victory, throughout the years with all the national championships, famous players/coaches and the dominant role in the SEC (23 championships out of 92 total), Alabama fans, above all others, cherish the history of the conference. Tennessee was always our big rival (along with Ga. Tech before we ran them out of the league), and we remember the classic contests that we've had over the years...Tennessee is second to us in SEC championships with 13, and has the second most wins so it's natural for us to respect, and even wish that they would become an eastern contender again so that it would again be fun to....kick their asses.
Unless you were saying that Bama fans respect history more than your average fan, so the fact that Tenn was once mighty carries weight with them and that is why they are always defending Tenn- they want others to respect that history. That is kinda of an answer, but it seems a fan of a program like Bama would be the first to endorse some sort of survival of the fittest.

lol, bless y'alls hearts.
until fat phil, there was a healthy respect for tn. now i'm not about to speak for every bama fan, just me. and for he guy that said those of us that say tn is a bigger rival than the barn are crazy or whatever. here where i live tn is our biggest rival. theres a whole bunch of us that live next to the tn/bama state line. and the barn takes a backseat to tn around here. and to the op, it is history. we went around 40 years not playing the barn. during which time we played tn every year. tn was a strong competitor for the vast majority of the time. each team measured its self by how they competed with the other. gen neyland bear bryant all the old time major coaches at tn/bama used this game as a measuring stick. eventually the al legislature forced bama/barn to resume and the rivalry was resumed there. thats hatred. tn was respect until fat phil.

I wouldn't say anyone is really worried about it. It is just a topic being discussed in a thread, mostly because it is a weird "rivalry".

Alabama has 3 rivals. Auburn, Tennessee, and LSU. Anyone who says Alabama and LSU are not rivals is a dumbass or trolling. They are the 2 most dominant programs in the SEC! The Saban factor, and the fact that we fight it out for the SEC west every year, until recently Auburn entered the mix again. Auburn is def first, followed by UT, then LSU. Tennessee has died a little since they have sucked, but before they sucked they were one hell of a rival.
PS
We own all three of them! That is a fact!
Alabama Auburn 42-35-1 UA leads
Alabama Tennessee 50-38-7 UA leads
Alabama LSU 48-25-5 UA leads
*You see the trend..

No, it doesn't. You think we want to play on fricking thanksgiving? No, that was the SEC catering to ATM to make them feel accepted like an unwelcome kid at a birthday party.
Give me the pigs, they are at least humorous.

I guess what I don't get is: Why didn't yall just move on? That is what most fans do.
Nebraska started to suck? OU focused on Texas.
Pittsburgh started to suck? Penn St. focused on the Big 10.
Michigan started to suck? tOSU focused on the SEC and Notre Dame moved on to USC.
Elsewhere in college football when the primary rival starts to suck the solution is usually to move on and not to try to "save them."
Why are Bama fans so different?

You do not understand the nature of this series, it usually comes in multiple game runs by one team, it's odd
