I think what we have learned with FB,MBB, is it isn’t about how much you spend it’s who you spend it on.The players better fit your system and process or you’re not going to get the results you want.Look at KEN BB ,LSU FB ,OM FB in 24, and many other programs the last 2years.

The media was building up SEC teams. Remember, under the old system, UGA would be in the four team semifinals last year and they obviously did not get there under a system where you actually have to, you know, beat non-SEC teams in the playoffs.
The last time Georgia played in the 4-team playoff, they beat Ohio State and TCU to win the tournament.
Neither of those programs are in the SEC.
The year before that they beat Michigan in the semifinals. By 23.
In 2020 Alabama beat Notre Dame and Ohio State
In 2019 LSU beat Oklahoma (Big 12) and Clemson.
Of the last 4 SEC national champions, 7 of the 8 wins by those teams were against non-SEC teams. Georgia did beat Alabama in 2021, who also beat a non-SEC team to be in the final.
Also, it was an SEC team that beat Georgia this past year.

This is what happens when policy change comes about from wide-sweeping legal challenges instead of incremental internal ones.
I agree with you. The useless and toothless NCAA dropped the ball big time for 20+ years and let this shite end up in court.
I remember 15-20 years ago when athletes could have been placated with a stipend to allow them to go do things like most college students. Get a car, go to dinner with friends, get new clothes, etc... Could have been and should have been incremental changes.
NCAA decided to keep arguing they were amateur athletes and should not be paid. Courts handed their greedy arse a sledgehammer over their head in the courtroom. To say the NCAA fricked this up big time... is a complete understatement.

No...the SEC has been paying players for years and the BIG 10 now does it since its legal and above board.

Pretty sure we have one of the best Basketball coaches in the nation...

Way to miss the point. UGA would have been given a spot in the final four this year under the old system. This is the result of years and years of campaigning that SEC wins mean more. How did UGA do this past year under a system where they don't just get to have the media put them into the final four in the football playoffs?

You're wasting your time trying to argue with this guy. He's rehashing the same drivel he spewed 4 months ago when the CFB were ongoing. He'll repeat ad nauseum that the only reason the SEC won any football titles was because they were predetermined by the media. Ask him who should've won all those titles instead if you want him to go away.

Georgia had 3 top 10 wins, plus a ranked win over Georgia Tech and a ranked win over Tennessee. They finished the regular season with 1 loss, then won the SECCG.
Ohio State got the same bye as Georgia with fewer ranked wins and lost their playoff game as well, and to a lower seed. Should OSU be mocked?

If you think the SEC wins ALL of those past titles if we used the current system, you are defying logic and probability. I guess we'll see how many the SEC wins moving forward. Maybe next year will be a breakthrough year for Alabama or Georgia and you can hope that Michigan, Ohio State and Indiana all have down years.
Let me guess - you are one of those people who think the SEC has as much wealth as the Big Ten?

Wait what? Florida won the Natty in basketball last year. The SEC also had almost half the field with 5 in the College Football playoff.

“They play a physical brand of football and basketball - the SEC does not. Nowadays, the SEC is more run and shoot, including the best teams in the league.
The B10 will line up and blow you off the ball. In both sports”
This. When the SEC played smash mouth nobody could touch us. It’s a bunch of idiots running 40yds to pick up 2 now. In basketball the BIG has low post players that rebound and are physical. The BIG kept the simple formula in sports while the SEC got cute.

How has the big10 surpassed in the NIL game?

Well, now you're talking about wealth. So you don't mean the playoff system but rather NIL?
Holy moving goalposts, Batman!
Seriously though, is that what you want to brag about? Being the best pro team in college football?

Let me connect some dots for you. I am talking about both. The playoff system is more fair now. AND NIL is a factor. We don't really have to debate this. We can look at the results on the field and on the court. The Big Ten is a far wealthier conference. They are head and shoulders above the SEC in both sports now.
The SEC used to pay players more. NIL brought this all out into the open now that paying players is legal. Hence the results we are seeing today.

Not only that, it's not like the Big Ten schools don't have some of their own ultra big money alums in addition to an army of the simply wealthy.
The SEC wanted to play the big money game with the Big Ten until they started seeing real money in action. Now it is laughable that the SEC wants NIL reform "for the good of the game."
I'm not sure that the motivations for reigning-in NIL is limited to SEC schools. Concerns have been expressed by just about everyone. But you are spot-on in about the size and scope of B1G alumni and wealth. Those are big institutions with much larger alumni bases than most SEC schools. That's advantage B1G.
The best athletes are still in the south; just look at from where NFL players predominantly come. It is also said that recruiting to cold weather climates is more difficult.
That said, money talks and sunshine probably walks.
Just wait until the best players from Georgia, Alabama and Louisiana start signing NIL deals with the likes of Illinois and Wisconsin.

Without the TP and NIL the SEC would dominate a 12-team playoff. Absolutely dominate.
It would literaly be 3/4 SEC team in the final 4 every year.

Pre late 90’s, the sec didn’t get paid(everyone likes to say fsu ducked the sec but bottom line was the acc paid more then)and the sec wasn’t exactly lighting it up in football or basketball at the time. Not to say the football was bad, maybe even the best but the margins between the sec and even the acc were slimmer pre 2000. After the big payday from cbs the sec became the most profitable conference and nick saban happened. The football run the sec went on will never be replicated. The sec had the most money and the best coaches. What really happened is everyone else caught up. No one could see that bc nick saban was so far ahead of the game. But if we are honest with ourselves the sec untouchable football dynamic ended 5 years ago. No one noticed bc saban walked the banner across the finish line so many times.

I never saw one post on this board over the years the SEC bought morons and win title after title. Now that the shoe is on the other foot SEC fans are begging for a salary cap and the end of the portal. It’s just bizzaro world but I totally understand the myopic viewpoint of SEC fans since I live among them.
The bottom line is the coaching has gotten worse in the SEC and the money is now available to all hence an ACC and Indiana can now be in the Natty. The SEC’s only hope in the near future is Kirby.
