Arkansas wasn’t even supposed to be in the tournament and fought our way in.

I'd say we were always supposed to be. There were a couple of weeks it looked like we wouldn't. By the end of the season it was like 90%+ likely.

I feel like there has to be an element of a Cinderella team where they are outmatched in a sense. They show up and play to their peak ability and beat superior teams playing closer to their average.

With our games, it really has just looked like we were the better team in both. We have just played our game and grinded them out. Same with Ole Miss really.

Fair enough but you were a 6 seed vs 11 seed that would have been in the NIT, if they had a name other than UNC.

6 over a 3 is an upset but nothing crazy.

NIL is the climate change of NCAA basketball.

One season/instance of something and people react like it’s forever going to happen every year hereafter when there’s plenty past examples of tournaments going like this.

We are the Cinderella this year.

Not a mid major. The SEC is top of the heap this year.

Talk about an over reaction after 1 weekend of basketball.

Minus the refs I think it’s been a great tournament with great basketball, until the last 5 mins with whistles. I personally dgaf about mid majors and most teams, just enjoy having the bracket and watching the games. I’ve had games with big wins, I’ve had many games sweating out the o/u, and I’ve seen underdogs win.

Totally agree..it is torturous.. a team down 10 and still fouling with 9 seconds left. Cmon now. Sometimes I think they're just trying to be a dick and drag it out.. the losing coach/team, that is. Either that or gotta get the point totals and spread and over under where they want it. I've wondered..

For sure, I can understand an underdog wanting to cover a spread if they’re gonna get knocked out but I don’t want to hear the coach going on about it like the one who played Florida (Norfolk st) did. The refs are definitely influencing it letting teams close gaps or make ridiculous off ball calls that change the momentum.

Arkansas, Ole Miss, BYU, & Michigan are the only non top 4 seeds still alive.

Cinderellas are overrated, the tournament is to decide the best team in the country. Some mid major getting lucky on a buzzer beater might be exciting, but it's not a good way to decide a champion.

The NCAA tournament is fun but it's actually a very stupid way to crown a national champion.

I'm not prepared to say that yet. Colorado State was s tick away from being in the Sweet 16. Drake took down an SEC team.

What's your main argument? Do you want a system that keeps individuals at small schools and limit their opportunities?

What we have currently isn't true NIL. No incoming athlete is making a million dollars off their own name, image, and likeness, because no one knows who the hell they are yet. They are making that money because of university collectives.

The problem isn't NIL. The problem is unlimited free agency every year.

My bracket is definitely pure dogshit cause of the upsets I picked that didn’t happen

Same here. I had UConn and Colorado State in sweet 16 and they were close. I’d have racked up with just one of those. I have Bama beating Michigan for championship, so I’m not out of it yet.

A true underdog story of a team with limited resources and under-recruited student athletes.

Thankfully for Cal, the Arky collective, and the Hog fans that team came together, or it would be alongside other huge NIL spenders like Kansas State, Indiana, Kansas, etc.

NIL is a factor in this tournament, and it will be in every tournament until something changes. NIL and the transfer portal has introduced another interesting layer to college basketball......roster building. A program can spend all the money it wants, but if it can't put together a roster that makes sense and fits it won't go far. Every team is likely to deal with this at some point.

Arkansas is a 10 seed in the sweet 16.

NC State was an 11 and made the final 4 last year

No 1 seeds made the elite 8 and 9 seed FAU made the final 4 in 2023.

Looks like Cinderella still has a glass slipper in the collection

The thing to consider here is that Arkie and NC State are not "Cinderella" type programs.

FAU is... but NIL really didn't kick in big time until around 2023 when the collectives got organized and people started literally buying players.

For the first year or two... NIL was more like what it was actually suppose to be... guys selling autograpshs and T-shirts, doing podcasts, pitching chicken fingers and sitting in pick up trucks down at the local car dealerships.

Now all that is just chump change stuff and most guys don't even bother with it anymore... they just pick up their checks from the collectives.

We will see what happens in the future but it doesn't look promising for the future for these teams when they are going to get raided every year.

This fact was also mentioned by the commentators quite a bit Sunday.

It’s a shame.

Why should this be our problem? Furthermore, the Top 4-6 conferences are, eventually, going to break away from the rest of the division, so this is just the expected outcome going forward.
