Forever to be associated with the University of Alabama, Nick Saban held all of college football by the throat for 17 years.
He added great prestige and honor to the already astoundingly influential and powerful Crimson Tide brand.
His greatest regret in his professional life was that he didn't arrive at Alabama in '97, the year the Bama job came open after Stallings left.
He could have left Michigan State and would never have had to go through the hardships of being the coach at LSU and Miami and wasting all that valuable time for nothing.

He’s not going back to Alabama, either.
Enjoy Kalen Debose.

WRONG! Over the years he was quoted multiple times that his biggest professional mistake was leaving LSU for the Dolphins with what could still be accomplished at LSU. I remember not only reading this several times, but also watching Chris Mortenson quote him after he left the Dolphins for Bama.

First of all, as Alabama's coach Nick Saban loved saying, "Settle The frick Down". You are embedding quotes because you are so agitated and upset.
Secondly, he said that his greatest professional regret was leaving LSU in the context that his greatest regret was just leaving college football in general.
He really didn't give a shite about LSU, in particular. Otherwise, he could have went back to LSU as he had many opportunities to do so.
Guess what? He didn't. Guess what else? He ain't never going back to LSU. Let go of that dream.

If he didn’t go to LSU, I wonder where he would say it was the easiest for him to recruit.
We will never know.
We will never know.

I guess he said that because it was easiest for him to recruit in Louisiana. Does that make sense to an LSU fan?
I'm pretty sure he didn't say he always wanted to go back to LSU because, again, he never went back.
Also, he is never going back. It's over. Remember when for 17 straight years, every little coonass in Louisianner thought he was coming back and continually said he was coming back 'cause he lurved LSU. That shite was hilarious.

Do you still think Nick is going to be head coach at LSU again, because of his deep love and respect for the best place he ever coached, like every LSU fan ever hatched still believes?
Ole Miss fans seem like the most rational, dignified, and reasoned bunch of mellow and calm fans on Earth compared to the almost two decade face melting LSU fans went through.

No, no one else but every single LSU fan alive at the time. Everyone else knew that LSU fans were just retards, basically, and it was never going to happen.
LSU fans, one and all, dreamed of him coming back to LSU because they felt he literally loved them above all others because he coached there for five years and maybe because of gumbo or something too.
Interspersed with this idol worship of him, was a continual brutal, mean-spirited, and angry reaction to him being at Alabama for 17 years.
Many of you hated him too, but loved him also. It was a spectacle that will likely never be seen again in college football.
It was like many of you truly and actually felt an intimate love for this man . Maybe y'all felt if you were simultaneously cruel and loving to him, he may come back like the coonass women come back when you beat them and then say you love them.

Kinda melty after the Saban clip from Pat.

It’s okay man. Nick won a lot of games and championships as the next head coach at Alabama. No need to feel insecure about it.
