Yes that is also true. They’re even in different states!

Dude is a whiny pussy. More unlikeable than even Vitello. Good luck SC with the new drama queen of the SEC.

He’s obviously a good coach, but South Carolina fans better learn to embrace the hate, because they will replace Tennessee and Vitello as most hated.

Deep in-state ties. Strong recruiting. Will be bringing quality assistants with him.

Not going to lie - it has been frustrating to watch good coaches at smaller in state schools constantly reject us or get picked off by bigger programs (in both baseball and basketball) when they should’ve been our #1 targets. Glad to see we finally got one that I think will work out.

have you seen most LSU fans responses in regards to the hire?

I think it’s pretty clear you haven’t read the responses. Just about every single reply mentioned it was a good hire, including nearly every LSU fan. Some questioned his class, which certainly has some merit (just like it does when people question Wade and Kiffin). Maybe go back and check out the replies.

This is still the ? for me. He only has 9 SC guys on that roster at CCU. They recruit out of state a lot

They get a lot of their players from the Northeast. Pennsylvania, New Jersey etc... They will pass on kids from the South to take players from their connections up North. They're big into the camp and showcase scene up there and Schnall is from Pennsylvania. Having been around it briefly it's like they are trying to prove something because they are on a mission to bring as many kids from up north down here to play baseball as they can find. On the surface it doesn't make much sense given how much baseball talent is in the southeast but up there is where Schnall and his assistants have connections and it's worked for them up to now so...

I'll add that it will be interesting to see if they continue to recruit like that at South Carolina or do they spend more time recruiting in state or in Georgia and Florida where there is a shite load of talent? Honestly this is the first thing I thought of when I heard his name being brought up for the South Carolina job. It's an interesting dynamic but if he wins no one will care. If he doesn't win your fanbase will start nitpicking his recruiting as would any SEC or southern ACC school would do if he was filling his roster full of Northeast kids and losing games despite sitting in the hottest of baseball recruiting areas here in the South.

Dude was an assistant coach for 24 seasons and never once sniffed a head coaching job. He was then gifted a head coaching job at his alma mater and the only place that even wanted him as an assistant coach. Yeah, he had a great first season and a good post season run. But, he's been a head coach for 2 seasons and never built anything himself.

This is far from a guarantee of success.

Sure, but also you have LSU fans starting threads on the MSB titled:

Douchebag Kevin Schnall (Coastal Carolina) to be S. Carolina head coach

not concerned at all. I'd be much more concerned if y'all had hired someone who has proven he can take a team that isn't currently a winner and make them a winner. He's a coin flip. He could work out, or be a disaster.

Everyone is saying congrats/good hire, and LSU fans are just dogging on a guy who took a midmajor to a final. Yes, we all know he lost to LSU in the final in 2 very close games.
Schnall was in his 13th season coaching at Coastal with Gilmore when they went to Baton Rouge in 2016 and took 2 straight to win the Super on their way to winning the CWS -

This coach is washed. I guess it’s better than Marinera though
