Baylor notoriously had paid students to retake the SAT and ACT after they were already enrolled to cook the books.

So the drop makes since considering oil prices bottomed out and Louisiana's budget is reliant upon on high oil prices.
Actually what I find the most amazing is that LSU can't finish up around UGA, UF, A&M considering they are the only major state school in Louisiana....

We all know LSU doesn't come to play school. Enjoy those academic championships

Lots of work put in for those rankings, I'm sure.

100-200 probably not much of a difference
All the flagship state schools in the country are essentially the same. Using the same materials from the same people.
These rankings never made much sense.
The only ranking should be connections rankings

Still frustrating that we are stuck in the high 60s all these years later. We were ranked in the Top 50 when I was in school in the 90s. Then came John Sharp and ballooning enrollment and education for the masses.

I don't know what methodology U.S. News uses, but sometimes these lists incorporate non-academic factors like student diversity, tuition value, campus safety, and other subjective metrics that can change.
Yeah, the metrics used are generally stupid. On the whole, the education you receive at a flagship state university isn't going to differ all that much from school to school unless you're talking about some specific program that one school excels at that another doesn't. But for your "run of the mill" majors, you're learning the same material everywhere you go. I always find it hilarious at the chest beating that occurs with these things. For instance, take a poly sci major at UGA and a poly sci major at Ole Miss... no one is going to care what each school is "ranked" if both people are applying for the same job in say Raleigh, NC.

Meh... Most employers couldn't care less where you get your degree from(UNLESS you're talking about a Duke, Vanderbilt, Harvard, Stanford type institution)... I've been told directly from hiring managers that simply having a degree doesn't really mean shite... It's great at getting your foot in the door for an interview but 95% of the time a degree from Ole Miss has the same weight as a a degree from Florida or Georgia... Plus I've known people with college degrees that were legit dumbasses... Conversely I've known non-degreed people who were highly intelligent, more than capable of filling certain college degree "required" billets that have kicked arse in those roles...

Well 20% of the ranking comes from "Expert Opinion". I can't take that seriously especially when there can be so much bias involved. I guess University of Alabama will always be low since so many "educators" have such a low opinion of the state. And before you say it, yes AU is in Alabama but can take advantage of not having the state name in the school and there are many people that don't know they are located in Alabama
