I was pisssed when Arky got him, hope he stayed out west. Dude is a great coach and you can tell by the current team he has.

I think he is good, but idk about already crowning him.

Also both coaches aren't cheating scumbags like a few in the conference.

Style of play can overcome height issues. Talent can overcome anything.

Well yeah and that is what Musselman has done so far but it still doesn't negate the disadvantage coming into the job. Musselman would gladly be playing more height if he could afford to on average.

I really like Oats. Almost all of the returnees have improved from last year. He also is down to 7 scholarship players and still has them playing competitive

What coach wouldn't. The SEC is not that strong this year, so teams with any returning talent is going to have a chance. Ark returns top two scorers and Bama returned the core of an average team. Next season will determine the quality of the coaching in the league.

Huh? There are plenty of teams that have enough height. No roster is perfect but Arkansas is one of the smallest teams in the county out of the power conferences.

I'm glad you brought that up. One of those two has been injured the last few weeks.

It's only a matter of time until Pearl gets caught doing something that's not KOSHER. It's been his M O since he began coaching. Oats is not top 5, Musselman, as far as drawing up X's and O's and teaching defense is the best in the SEC. Just wait until next year's class comes in. We'd be undefeated this year if we had that 7'1" rim protector and a 35% from behind the 3-ball line playing this year. For some reason the NCAA wouldn't grant Vanover the waiver that 99% of other transfers get. Musselman is taking the Hogs to the NCAA tournament this year and with next years class we make the FINAL FOUR. So yeah, it's back to the glory days for the Hog basketball team.

We had two players both 6-9 and 7-3 that had to sit out this year. That cost us some games.

We had 2 players tear knee ligaments right before the season started, 1 player was declared ineligible by the NCAA because reasons, several small injuries to begin the season, and now another player is out for the rest of the season with a wrist injury.

List the Pearl Infractions. Let’s decide if the are worthy of the label you place on him.

Yep, the main reason most of the media didn't expect much from Arkansas is lack of size. There is no doubt to this point they have overachieved as a whole. Still a lot of season left.

Muscleman is solid. He’s building.

Noot Oats is big poopy.

I’ve seen better coaches playing 2K. “Dahhhh keep chooting da tree pointy!” That isn’t coaching. That’s just dumb. And that’s why they stink.

Alabama had 1 quality player on the team last year, Kira Lewis. Herbert Jones was athletic and a good defensive player, but couldn't score with a pencil! John Petty was a moody, lazy underachiever who wouldn't play defense while being a turnover machine on the other end. Most of the kids that Oats brought in either got season ending injuries or were ruled ineligible this year by the NCAA.
Oats has "turned around" Petty, Jones and Reese over the course of the season while showing Lewis how to take control of the offense. Barring anymore unforeseen major unpleasant "surprises", Alabama should have a deep, experienced and very competitive P-5 tournament team next year.

Oh, glad handing and building a top shelf program out of Tennessee and Auburn who were both proverbial cellar dwellers before Pearl shows up. Why did UT send Pearl out the back door if they thought he was something grand ? Pearl turns doormat programs around in a single season. Now one might say that Pearl is just that good of a coach or one might say he's back to running a dirty program. Now which is more likely, Pearl winning big at doormat programs after a single season and running a clean program or a weasel changing his disposition and still winning big after one season. Pearl is doing things after one season at traditionally mediocre programs that Bobby Knight, Dean Smith and Coach K did at great programs but only after coaching there 3 to 5 years. Something seems to always be shady when Pearl shows up with his snake oil and magical elixirs. AU is well known to accidently be looking the other way when the guys with pockets of money come out to repair church buildings. It's a family 'thang' I wouldn't understand.

He didn't turn Auburn around in a single season, took 3-4 seasons

Pearl turned Tennessee around in one season with none of his own players. He inherited a 10 year NBA guy at PG and the best 3 PT shooter in SEC history. Had a decent amount of talent on that first Tennessee team. He did not do anything special at Auburn for several years.

His first class at Tennessee was a couple 4 stars and a couple 5 stars with character concerns (i.e. not recruiting against the blue bloods). Did Tennessee pay Duke Crews and Ramar Smith? Most likely, but that wasn't his mistake.

The mistake was when he started getting guys like Josh Selby and Tobias Harris and taking them away from UK and KU. A guy who is as despised as Pearl within the profession cannot get bigger than his britches in recruiting or every little detail will be scrutinized.

Lying to the NCAA about something there was proof of was why Tennessee had to fire him. He got a show cause and that would have cratered the program.

All I know is overall league will probably be better next year than this year reading everyone's posts

But seriously it should actually be if a lot of these players decide to return, not a ton of veteran teams in the league outside of Auburn.
