Two decent hires for sure but there isn’t room in the top 5 right now. Both are better than Cal, Pearl, Barnes, Wade? Really?

mean they werent necessarily outside the top half of the league in the recent past, they always seemed stuck on the bubble just looking out around 5th-8th or so in SEC...kind of like this year

Except this year we're doing it while half of our roster is injured. Only had 7 scholarship players available against Arkansas.

Well, he's talking about actual coaching ability not just recruiting ability. Two of the guys you listed are only good at recruiting. I'll let you figure out which two.

Just be thankful LSU didn't go with Musselman a few years ago.

All 4 of those guys are excellent X’s and O’s coaches. Also, he just said top 5 coaches. Recruiting is a massive part of the job.

Those 4 + Kermit, Buzz, and maybe Frank Martin are better X’s and O’s coaches than Oats by the way. I’ll let Muss be included

You have no idea what you’re talking about if you think Will Wade isn’t doing a good job on the bench. We’re severely undersized and killing everyone on the glass and like top 10 in the nation in offensive efficiency.

Both are top 5 coaches in the SEC. It's crazy what Musselman has already accomplished with a squad that doesn't have a player over 6'7" on it. He's probably the best x's and o's coach in the conference. Arkansas will go back to their glory days with him.
Nate Oats is another amazing x's and o's coach. After this year Alabama will be a tournament team every year under him.
I completely agree. The vast majority of the Alabama fan base are extremely happy with our new coach and the attitude he's brought to the program. I've watched Musselman coach several times this year, and am very impressed with his approach and success with the players he inherited. I suspect that The Tide and The Hogs will be heard from in basketball for some years to come.

In my opinion, Nate Oats is a "good" coach but will face a difficult time attracting 'high level' basketball recruits to Tuscaloosa. I'm not expecting a whole lot more than what we've seen the last few years. A potential 'bubble' team with an occasional NCAA bid. Just can't attract enough top notch recruits on a consistent basis.
Auburn decided to take Pearl "warts and all" because he is a great coach AND dynamic recruiter and in my opinion, the decision has really paid off for them.
Arkansas traditionally is a better basketball program than Alabama so it's about time they get someone to get them going again.

Oats is really facing an uphill battle at Alabama. Maybe my opinion will change and this year is really a wash due to being his first year. Add in the injuries and the fact he's missing some 'ballers' as someone pointed out. Can he get those 'ballers' to come play at Bama? I mean real Basketball talent, great skills and high basketball 'IQ'. Not project players that maybe have raw athletic ability but minimal basketball skills and no actual real knowledge of the game. Time will tell but I remain skeptical for now.

The style of ball he plays is perfect for recruiting kids who may not be elite coming out of H.S., but athletic. It's a fun style with a lot of "street ball" in it, and the array of young players who fit well in it is huge. The key to its success, IMO, is being able to get this type of kid to play 40 minutes of hard, focused defense.

That's a great point that I forgot about. His style of play should always keep Bama competitive. And for the record, I think he was the best hire Bama could make. My attitude is towards the program in general and not necessarily towards Nate Oats as a basketball coach.

Listen, if Nate Oats was able to recruit 4 star basketball recruits to the University of Buffalo, trust me, he can convince them to attend Alabama. While I get that Alabama may not be the most prestigious basketball school in the SEC, compared to Buffalo, it may as well be Madison Square Garden.
Just look at our vaunted rankings on aesthetically pleasing universities. Or perhaps he was able to convince them to enjoy Narnia (where it is always winter and never Christmas). Trust me, Oats will be fine.

Also both coaches aren't cheating scumbags like a few in the conference.

What are you basing your assessment on ? I do not think any of the previous coaches left the cupboard bare.

Cupboard wasn't bare for sure but Mike did a terrible job with roster management in terms of distributions before he left. Arkansas has one decent player taller than 6'6'' before Musselman got there.
