Tyler Wilson-2012
he had good numbers but John L Smith was clueless, still can't believe that team wasn't dead last in the SEC, thanks UK and Auburn.

That’s one of the great mysteries in Hog fandom, that team should have won at least 9 games with the returning talent and assistant coaches held over to run petrino’s offense and smith should have been reliable enough to do a decent job or just gotten out of the way.
I’d say the only positive was we only paid Smith $800,000 but that was too much,…SMILE!

Tommy Hodson for LSU. Imagine if he had Chase and Jefferson or Thomas Jr and Nabers.
I mean he did win two SEC titles at least

Matt Jones in today’s systems would have been elite.

State’s is easy. Kevin Fant could have been a great QB but our OL was softer than melted butter in 2002-2003 and as a result he got beat up worse than Joe Frazier did in the 1973 match with George Foreman.
Had we had a decent OL, he could have been an All-SEC QB.

Easy…. Jayden Daniels. The defense sucked arse. With just a slightly above average defense, LSU is making the playoffs with a solid chance to win the NC.

Jeremiah Masoli
Grit and determination to 4 wins. That team may not win 2 without him.

Jayden Daniels with just a top 50 defense would have cake walked to a NC

Mett. If Les opened up more instead of running so much. He had a cannon.

Having a really good defense would have likely hurt Daniels’ stats. LSU knew they had to outscore opponents to win. They kept their their foot on the gas all game every game. Had they had a good defense they likely would have taken the ball out of the air and gone conservative to run out the clock in the 4th quarter in a lot of games. Plus, LSU’s defense let the offense get the ball back quickly many times, thus the offense had more possessions.

In the triple option.

None of that matters. LSU had the offense to win a NC. If they had a defense to go along with it, they would have had a very legit chance.

I'm going with Brodie Croyle with a Saban O-line and all the offensive talent he brought in.

Pretty sure he's still the only qb in the history of the NFL with 10+ starts to never win a game.
This is not a good take.

This was the original thread
You are having a completely different conversation.
Daniels did thrive on the team he was on. He won a Heisman trophy. The situation Daniels was in was the perfect situation for him to put up video game numbers. A bad defense combined with a good offensive line, two elite receivers and an average running game that was based largely on Daniels. He was asked to throw the ball for 60 minutes per game. Are you saying that if LSU had a better defense that Daniels would have put up even better stats?

Were those teams bad? I dont really remember but I wouldn’t have guessed that. Zeier vs Barker in BDS is one of my all time favorite home games. First time I ever saw the University Blvd shut down.
They were pretty good his first two years.
