I thought of him 5 seconds after reading the OP. I was going to call him him Fuller so you saved me.

Yes, very underappreciated as the umderstudy to Bo.

Has anyone mentioned Steve Bowman, Alabama? He was the 1965 SEC rushing leader.

The “track tape” finish at the goal line was especially sweet in Red Stick Tigerbitch Stadium. Doug Nussmeir BAMA OC in 2012.

ETA: Blake Sims triggering the swamp trash at the end of the video is epic. Used to get you banned on ThinTigerskin….whoops….Tigerdroppings, then SECrant websites. So did ladies in bikinis. Good times.

Dude George Rogers won a Heisman, only forgotten by those that never knew him. Those from the time remember him well.

Couple from pre SEC days in :

Gary Anderson

James Wilder cost Nebraska a national title kicking their arse in Lincoln and then beating LSU in the bowl game. Still leading rusher in Buccaneers history.

Henry Josey, leading rusher on the 2013 Mizzou team. Had to sit out over a year with a catastrophic knee injury vs Texas in 2011, thought he would never play again.

John Avery

I had a couple classes with him my freshman year and we sat next to each other. He would sleep through class and amazingly score better than me on exams. I told him one time that I was going to cheat off him on the next exam. He said, “Man, you know that won’t do you no good.”

I’ll throw in Brandon Bolden. He was a solid RB for the Rebels.

Chrys Chuckwuma

Chukwuma attended Arkansas. In his freshman year, he went into the record book for most rushing yards in school history for a freshman with 590 yards. In his sophomore year, he gained 186 yards for 3 touchdowns. He was later sidelined due to a back injury that put him out the rest of the season. As a junior, he led Arkansas with 870 yards and 8 touchdowns on 149 carries, and helped the Razorbacks win a share of the 1998 SEC Western Division championship. In his senior year he was the second leading rusher with 552 yards and 8 touchdowns on 172 carries, while helping Arkansas win the 2000 Cotton Bowl Classic over former Southwest Conference arch-rival Texas.

South Carolina was Independent team then. No league.

George was still a badass. Paved the way for Walker and Jackson to win the Heisman in the media.

Lawdy…A&M sure sure needed Woodard the last three years in the SEC, given our well known inability to gain that one or two yards when it was desperately needed in games.

Tommy Agee from Maplesville. Might as well mention the entire Wishbone group.

Brandon Jacobs. He was a bruiser. Would have been the featured back at any school. He just happened to be at AU with Caddy and Ronnie Brown.

Gerald Riggs, Jr. One of two 1,000 rushers on Tennessee's 2004 team, he was in the early talk for Heisman in 2005 until an injury ended his season.
