He absolutely needs to hire an OC, but this is a great hire for Texas even if I agree that Pete did a good job here. There's got to be something else in the background motivating this because I'm not sure improvement on what was already a solid unit is enough to spur this decision.

I was hoping that whenever Schu leaves we'd just plug Muschamp right in.

Honestly I was selfishly hoping Kirby, Bobo, and Muschamp would just run it back about 10 more years and we wouldn't have to worry about losing staff. 3 elite former teammates coaching at their Alma mater, of course it's too good to be true

The Texas sites are saying he was fired but, like you, I just don’t see it. There has to be something else going on. Surely Sark recognized what a good job he did here.

I’m actually more baffled that flood still works there. Flood must have dirt on sark or something because he did a terrible job this year.

Someone is going to pick up a really good defensive coordinator in Pete wherever he ends up next.

The white board in the fail room at Bryant Denny has Muschamps fist mark on it when he was DC at Auburn. Must have been his thing.

I did not see that coming. Defense has been our strongest unit.

But those guys don’t ask me for advice, ha…

Flood is the biggest mystery on staff to me - even moreso than Sark's stubbornness in hiring a true OC. His lines were lights out at Bama, but with even mediocre OL play this year we are 12-1 and in the playoffs (we win OSU and FL with even a semblance of execution there).

Texas keeps opening the checkbook for hires, recruits and NIL and still can’t make the playoffs.

One day they will realize they have a Sark problem.

No one is a bigger critic of Steve Sarkisian than I am but even I can see how stupid your comment is. We were in the playoffs the two previous seasons.

This is strange. I thought Kwiatkowski was doing a pretty good job, and that Texas’ defense was the strength of their team this season. Granted, Muschamp is a very good defensive coach, but Kwiatkowski being ‘fired’ does not seem reasonable. Perhaps there was mutual interest to go different ways?

reeks of alumni and big money donors screaming about OU and A&M in the playoffs. Sark you need to make some changes kind of move

lmao SC and AU have a way of making great coaches look shitty.

Boom was no cancer for Auburn for one. He brought in our first batch of stud players that Coach Steele could depend on. Muschamp didn't end up looking shitty for anything either. He inherited shite players save for Lawson and Adams. He did have a melt down in the Iron Bowl against the refs, but that was his own fault.

Bobo was no cancer to Auburn either. He helped Bo Nix more than anyone. I have no clue what you are talking about.

So K was tired of the disrespect and carrying the program on his back and didn't think he had the contract he deserves, and they didn't like each other.

Oregon or USC next up for K.

You got in last year and shouldn’t have been. The year before you were in the big12 and played no one again.

This year showed what Sark really is as a coach against competitive schedule.

He is a 8-4 / 9-3 coach

Guess who was the only team to make the playoffs both seasons before this one.

Whoever said that Muschamp’s wife is a looker wasn’t lying. She’s a solid 7.5 maybe 8

Holy shite.

Sark throwing Pete under the train.
Meh, not worried about PK, he will easily land another job somewhere else, probably with assistant head coach attached and a raise.

While part of me is happy to have Boom back directing our defense, I was also pleased with Akina being brought back...until I realized that was all based on nostalgia. That said, I'm going to remain hopeful Muschamp hasn't lost a step and wants this to springboard into another HC job, maybe even as Longhorns coach if he does even better than PK?

Edit- something PK lovers seem to be overlooking is the fact he is a great tactician, but treated recruiting as a necessary evil and only jumped in if an elite prospect seemed to be wavering. Muschamp can recruit, or at least he could..it's been a bit.
