with Todd Blackledge are the best duo, period. Hire them both and somehow make them cover all the SEC games that day. MAKE IT SO!

You have not been in the SEC long enough

What does my opinion of Brent Musburger have to do w Texas A&M's conference affiliation?

Different strokes, that's all.

When Brent Musburger is calling a game, I'm watching the game on mute. He always seems to be a few seconds behind the action.

This is terrible news if true.

You guys are new. The rest of us are used to years of that sorry SOB running down the conference in football and basketball games. If he winds up on SEC TV I will not purchase it.

I don't think it would be prudent on his part to "run down" the conference that pays his check.

He's clearly a polarizing figure. Who knew people had such strong feelings about him, either way?

He would just interject B1G and PAC promos every 3rd sentence and his nose is so far up the Rose Bowl it is tar brown.

He is only polarizing because he is such a homer.

Really? A homer for whom? Just curious.
I've watched college football for decades, and I've never detected any blatant SEC hatred from him.
But I certainly understand he's not everyone's favorite.
Seems like whenever the subject of announcers comes up, someone is ultimately accused of bias.
Shoot--I did it in this thread w re: to Ron Franklin.

I also remember him almost stroking out that season when Gary Danielson had the nerve to say LSU might be even better than USC, during the LSU-Fla game.

Do you?
Ok, maybe it was the VT game. It was a big game that season, and Musburger sounded like he wanted to fight when it was suggested LSU was better than USC.

he doesn't come out and talk badly about the SEC, he just promotes the PAC and Big 10 at every opportunity. In that respect he's just Keith Jackson 2.0

Honestly the SEC's brand name is so strong at this point they can probably survive a bit of subtle sabotage

You can tell what team Mussberger is rooting for approximately 19 seconds into the first quarter. God he's annoying.

His voice--to me--says "college football."
And he loves the tradition and pageantry of the whole deal.

Yep. At least he's not one of these dry, boring drones that puts you to sleep. Could do far worse.

Musberger has screwed up some very memorable plays by talking about bullshite through the play.

He's awful. I've referenced it before, but his intro to the Rose Bowl would have been better suited to a live coverage of the moon landing.
