The Rutgers TV market does not exist. It's a myth, like Mizzou pulling St. Louis ratings to some measurable level.

You can rest assured that Rutgers fans in NYC have to get creative in finding ways to watch Rutgers on TV some weeks when all they have to do is turn the TV on to see Vandy and Mississippi State. SEC football is, if anything, OVEREXPOSED nationally....there ain't any one in any region interested in CFB who is not exposed regularly and as often or more so to SEC football than they are the teams in their own state / region.

Rutgers are building new facilities and with Greg Schiano the HC they will be much better team in a couple of years.

Let them leave

Add
Liberty
Army
Navy

SEC West
Vandy
Arky
aTm
Ole Miss
Miss State
LSU
Barn
Bama

SEC EAST
Florida
Georgia
Tennessee
South Car
Kentucky
Liberty
Army
Navy

I know Army, Navy are in Maryland and New York but the South loves the military and Liberty is a natural fit. Army and Navy would pull in way more viewers than Rutgers or Maryland. Plus the Service Adademies would be really cool venues to go play at.

Add in that none of them would be a year in year out threat to win the Championship - and it would be a hard fought win but a good solid well prepared team.

There are lots of links between a lot of successful coaches and Army and Navy schools.

All 3 schools would add a lot to our Academic side and sports that are not Basketball and Football. There are a lot of People from the North east that have moved south and they would all watch the service academies. Liberty with a huge endowment, Christian, Law, and Medical areas of study and great academics would fit right in as well.

With this one move the SEC would own the TV Markets from the Northeast, to Florida to Texas and North through Kentucky. It would have the biggest footprint of any Conference and it would cement itself as the best league in the country.

How come that didn't happened when there was an opening before Mizzou got in the SEC?

Mizzou was the lowest fruit to pick and the Big 12 was obviously in disarray at the time and the ACC was putting legal and financial hurdles for teams if they left in 2011

that would make the East division even weaker than it is now, but it's not going to happen so it's a moot point

Didn't ESPN just sign a new deal with the SEC that bumps the conference revenue generated from $50 million to over $300 million?

I have a tough time seeing any team leave that unless they're getting a hell of a deal.

Exactly!

If the B1G wants to add the KC media market they will just add KU and be done with it. They already share STL by way of Illinois.

No one is leaving the SEC, B1G or ACC now.

Mizzou leaves and the SEC picks up WVU. Really don’t know why it wasn’t this way to start. The St. Louis and Pittsburg TV markets are about the same.

No way the big ten is kicking out Rutgers. Too many TV sets in that part of the country. That was the sole purpose of getting them in the conference to start with. If the big ten were to kick out anyone it would be Nebraska. Nebraska was brought in because of their history but the sun is setting on the Nebraska program. They are on their way to the irrelevant bin in the back of the store that contains Minnesota and Illinois.

Leagues needing an even number of teams will prevent anyone from getting kicked out.

And those sets can just as easily tune in to SEC games and they do.Rutgers brings nothing in the form of name recognition or inventory.

Probably the only benefit has been the BIG network in NYC/NJ but I'm not even sure thats been a windfall with the increased amount of cord cutters these days.

Perfect. Bring in Clemson, West Virginia or even Miami. Hell, I'll take SMU.

Illinois imprint into the STL area is overstated.

There are more Mizzou fans in the metro-east than Illini fans in Missouri. This is because Mizzou games in the late 70s & 80s were on local TV, while Illini games were on cable, which no one in Southern Illinois had at the time.

Chicago is very similar, in that it has a ton of Mizzou fans, but also a healthy mix of Notre Dame, Northwestern, and Wisconsin fans meaning that if the Illini are the #1 school it isn't by much.

This is not even close to being true. We are not going to the Big 10, the SEC isn't going to "kick us out." and Arkansas will continue to be our bitch for the next century.
