This shows our conference borders pre-expansion. We are pretty much the no-man's land between the Big 12, Big 10, and SEC. Therefore, we aren't going to "fit" in any of them.
Funny, rival Big 12 fans liked to refer to us as 'slavers' and thought we belonged with the South.
B1G fans see us as fringe Midwestern farmers and hill people.
SEC fans think we are Yankees and live roughly 15 miles from the Canadian border.
The truth is somewhere in the middle there.

Once again it really doesn't matter...
They are semi close to Lexington(6 h 57 min) & Nashville(6 h 27 min) in the east & Fayetteville(4 h 50 min) in the west. For everyone else they are more than 7 hours or more away...
Some examples...
CoMo to Athens Ga... 10 h 57 min (734.8 mi) via I-24 E
If they were in the West...
CoMo to AU.... 10 h 58 min (731.6 mi) via I-65 S
CoMo to Tuscaloosa... 9 h 18 min (604.9 mi) via I-55 S
CoMo to Baton Rouge... 11 h 12 min (772.3 mi) via I-55 S
CoMo to College Station... 11 h 57 min (754.4 mi) via I-44
CoMo to Oxford... 7 h 2 min (476.9 mi) via I-55 S

This seems like the right place for this:

Again though, factor in that Mizzou's largest out of state alumni concentration is actually Dallas-Fort Worth (Chicago is right there too but DFW is #1). There are a lot of Mizzou fans in Texas including yours truly. I've never missed a game in College Station or Oxford yet, and will be in Baton Rouge next year.

That's why I laugh when people say we don't "fit" in the SEC. We don't "fit" in the Big 12 either.
I disagree with this. I think culturally Missouri fits in pretty well with the Big 12. I've lived in Kansas and MO and they're basically the same place. Not really the case when comparing it to states in the South that say stupid things like y'all and drink shitty Coke.

When does "Maty" grow a pair of balls and become Matt?
That shite is so Big10, Big12 douchy.

But which parts of MO have you lived in? You're right in saying that there are parts of MO that are very similar to kansas. However, eastern MO and Southern MO are not like kansas at all. It all goes back to my point in that there is no uniform culture across Missouri. If you live in Southeast Missouri, you're most similar to Kentucky and Tennessee. If you live in Springfield, you're most similar to Arkansas and Oklahoma. If you live in KC, you're most similar to kansas. If you live in STL, you're most similar to Illinois. And if you live in Northern Missouri...you might as well be Iowa.
My point is, Missouri is too geographically big to have a uniform culture. It just depends which part of the state you come from.
My friend was born and raised in the bootheel, has a thick southern accent, and calls me a "yankee". But we're both Missourians

WTF if you are going to play in the best conference in college football you need to learn that college football comes first and foremost.
Geeez what the hell is wrong with you F-ing Mizzou fans.

Missouri is a professional sports state.
I guess the SEC will just have to

Fun fact: there are more MLB baseball teams in MO and TX than there are in the other 8 SEC states combined.
And of those, the 2 in MO happen to be some of the current best teams in the NL and AL respectively.
You guys knew what you were getting when you expanded. Y'all need to adjust.

Us Yankees don't show up for home games during deer season and can't afford basketball tickets

Seems they were most unhappy SEC CCG will stay in ATL.
Well at least that's one problem uk won't have to deal with in our lifetimes.

Well here's the problem...

Missouri vs Georgia
Saturday, October 17
Sanford Stadium, Athens, Georgia
Bad scheduling.
The Cardinals and Royals will still be playing baseball.

UK is in the ATL so often they call it Catlanta for a reason.
Are you upset Missouri will be there far less and will never get to call it Mizlanta or Mylanta?

Yeah, not sure why they are in this conference if their fans think its too far to travel. Maybe not a great geographic fit

I actually hate baseball, can't stand it. It's boring. I live and breathe college sports.
Compared to the many UGA fans who also follow the Braves, I'm much more in line with you guys supposed vision of a "perfect SEC fan" who puts SEC sports above all else than a lot of your own UGA fans probably are.
All that being said, you can't expect fans of two major World Series contender teams not to be very, very into the season their baseball teams are having. That's just nuts.

No thanks, I think we'll stay right here. Just keep sending the checks.
I think based on population and SEC Network penetration within the state, Missourians are among the states sending checks to subsidize their conference brothers. Not the other way around.
