How was Missouri denied and Rutgers accepted? Very odd.

Rutgers Market was better for B1G. Plus a lot of people appreciate Rutgers history even though they aren't a big name.

We weren't denied. We didn't want to accept a junior member offer.

They offered us the deal NU got...which is NU didn't full share of revenue for years. We said no and were fortunate to be invited by the best conference in the country and said yes .01 seconds later.

they were also trying to help out Ped State and bring in a few schools that made sense for scheduling

Well why were they offered full membership and you received a junior membership?

NU won't be a full member until after next year.
ETA: And were kicked out of the AAU the year after they joined the Big X.

MU was a full member from day one in the SEC. No brainer.

Who?

Nebraska took the jr membership we declined.

We then contacted the SEC and here we are.

Rutgers is a good school and Mizzou is and embarrassment. B1G cares about academic prestige

The B1G wanted a team with zero SEC wins.

Had to choose between Rutgers and Tennessee. They chose the closer one

Let’s not exaggerate.

First of all, y’all rode our coattails out of the XII to the SEC. It was A&M that had the long standing relationship with the SEC, and had to deal with the lawsuits, the media, and the state politics when we left. We had to do those things - you didn’t.

There is no doubt that Missouri really wanted into the B1G and it is a much more natural fit for you. If VT, NCSU or even OU had been able to leave and join also, you’d still be in the XII. (Dr. Loftin lobbied OU very hard, BTW)

Those are facts. And don’t tell us that you’ve been wanting to be in the SEC for generations like we have, because it isn’t so. If y’all could go to the B1G tomorrow you’d do so.

The Gee Camp (tOSU pres)
Nebraska
Kansas
Missouri

The non Gee Camp
Nebraska
Maryland
Rutgers

Basically the non Gee Camp won the day.

On a more personal note

SEC cost 50 bucks to join and 0 bucks to leave. They also offer full share on day 1
B1G cost 50 million to join and 300 million to leave. Jr share on day 1

There is 0 chance we would be in the Big 12 right now. Absolutely none.

Had we not gotten into the SEC we would have taken the jr offer from the Big 10 the second go round.

And you would have the same # of conference championships to show for it.

Texas arrogance is amazing.

We did, it is, and will still happen, be patient grasshopper.

We are merely hanging out here until some things are worked out. It's inevitable that we will be in the best conference soon.
