Miss St. has no particular reason to really be motivated for this game

I do remember Dak saying a while back in the offseason that one of the big reasons he came back was to get revenge on Ole Miss. Obviously MSU is out of the SEC championship race, so I don't necessarily think Alabama is at the forefront of their minds in regard to that previous point.
I think Dak will have his yards to an extent, but will otherwise look pedestrian cause his mind won't be in the game.

A possible win over Bama is more than motivating.

Agree, our only chance is if Dak is looking ahead to Ole Miss like last season.

But they aren't out of the West (technically), Bama is the team that knocked them off their #1 AP run, and Bama is the only West team Dak hasn't beaten yet.
Will they win? Probably not, but saying there's no motivation is foolish.

Bama should be too used to getting everyone's best shot to really believe this.

Umn...Miss State is by no means out of the SEC Championship race. A win against Alabama drops them to 2 losses. LSU could very well lose one more to Arkansas, A&M, or Ole Miss. Since they lost earliest, they may have an advantage in a 3 way tie scenario.

we would, as long as OM beat LSU and we beat OM. in that scenario we would be the only team to beat OM and would go to Atlanta

Anyone who does not take Miss St. serious is in for a rude awakening. We ruined this teams best season in school history last year and they will be out for blood. Not to mention im sure there will be some extra emotion due to the lost of there teammate. This will be a very tough game! RTR

Agree 100%. Thankfully, I hear Dan told the boys that if they can pull off the upset, there's an extra scoop of mashed potatoes in it for them at Sunday dinner. At least we've got that going for us.

Joining this board in and of itself is quite the questionable decision on your part considering your intent (I'm assuming) was to talk sports....which this board is definitely a wolf in sheep's clothing on the subject.

Agreed. Ole Miss proved that Alabama's defense is vulnerable against short passes and zone reads when they're spread out, and Dak Prescot does that better than anybody in the country right now. Dak is easily the best QB in the conference. He is carrying this team despite an average offensive line because he's so damn tough to bring down and can get rid of the ball quickly. Their offensive scheme matches up well against Alabama's defense.
On the other side of the ball, Miss State has been mediocre against the run, however, averaging 167 yds/game on the ground and 200 through the air. However, they boast the 11th ranked scoring defense in the country, only giving up just over 17 points/game. That's 2nd in the SEC behind, you guessed it, Alabama.
This could be a defensive contest for the ages. If Miss State comes out of the gate on fire and Alabama plays sluggishly and undisciplined, those Cowbells can get out of hand really fast.

MSU can still win the west I think

This thread is like a sting operation, to see how many grinders are left on the rant.

Under that scenario, there would be a 3-way tie. Not sure what the 2nd tie-breaker would be after head-to-head since all three teams would be 1-1 against the others.

You've got the run the damn football and stop the run to win anything of significance in this league.

Except that we do still have a shot at Atlanta and then there's that whole revenge thing and if we win it sets up up nicely for a committee bowl
