I hope he pulls through and gives us an explanation of his near death experience.

Events like this are different. This is stuff that makes you think about your priorities in life. Those kids have to be thinking the same thing. You gotta think those kids are going through it as much as the family is, and the info those kids are getting is through Twitter or on some message board. You know they are seeing people troll the situation which doesn’t help. They are seeing these unofficial reports out there. That has to be getting to a lot of those players. So I doubt they play. There’s more to life than just a game with an egg shaped ball.

Agree. Whatever decision is made should be respected.

People trolling the situation are terrible. Some people just assume that others are just automatons and not actual living, breathing people with feelings. It's ridiculous.

Do y’all really call it that?

You probably going to get downvoted to hell and back but they’re going to all be from people that don’t get our coping mechanisms and gallows humor.

I’ve never heard it called that but it just became part of my vernacular. It’s perfect.

I agree its a thin line between the school showing solidarity, but also needing to fill the HC spot during an important time of the year. I know football isnt everything, but I am curious what the procedure is for this. The transfer portal just opened, and youre without a coach (even when he hopefully makes his recovery).

I wouldnt want to be in that AD right now.

One thing to that people don’t realize to is, those coaches on staff have to get the players right, deal with potentially losing a colleague, and potentially losing their jobs from this. I would not want to be a colleague, boss, or player. Hell I hope this never has to happen to anyone

absolutely. I didnt particularly know how to post that respectfully, hopefully I did..but I am curious how people think the school should precede. This is a case I havent seen before. I was alive for Joe Morrison passing at USC, so I dont know when that happened. This illness comes at about the worst football time.

*Yes, I do know football is not the important thing right now, just for the program this could have an impact for years

Zach Arnett our DC was named interim coach for the bowl game. We haven’t even hired an AD. Bracky Brett is our interim AD. It’s a fricking mess, do you let the interim AD find a new coach or hire an AD first and let him do it? What if it takes too long and we can’t find a coach? Honestly Arnett might be our best bet and while he is a great DC who knows if he can be a good HC.

While it’s not important right now, this situation could set us way back. Especially if players start transferring out in droves due to coaching uncertainty

If you want to discuss the football coach side of things, that's fine.

Just know that the first call will be to a sitting SEC coach with ties to Mississippi State and a wife whose father is the Chief of Police in Starkville.

My best guess would be Arnett is promoted. He's probably not ready to be an SEC head coach but a Coach's death and no Athletic Director - I don't think you can do a typical coach search. You promote Arnett, try to keep the staff together and hope for the best.

His dad just sold his Blacksburg house to move full time to Columbia. Not to say they couldn't just as easily move to Starkville, but they do have the whole family together there.

Everyone grieves differently.

For some playing in the game, for his memory, can be powerful.

I’m very sorry. I thought I did. Definitely not you. Actually the complete opposite of you.
