Word is he wants back at Bama, to win one more title so he can officially beat the Bear. He thought the team that lost in OT to Michigan would be the one, but he always felt gutted by it. Hell I would. We had the ball with 5 minutes to go and a touchdown lead. He had a lot of teams that could have won it but lost in the title game or playoff, that shouldn’t have. Clemson in Tampa on The last second pick play was another one.

this reminds me of the Jay Leno debacle with Conan. They told Leno he had 5 years and then retire and he agreed to it. Then a year after Conan took his spot he went to NBC and said he wants it back. They eventually gave in

Unless the "notable" person McElroy was referring to is Miss Terry, I call BS.

Lou Saban coached at a small college after the pros.

Maybe Saban goes to Marshall.

I could imagine a specific opportunity coming up. The Bengals job comes to mind. Maybe Florida. Maybe he pulls a Deion and goes to a bad team where just him being there will help things.

You mean when he decided not to sign Brees. Brees absolutely would have gone to Miami if offered a similar contract and money.

Saban was frickin’ foaming at the mouth to sign Brees. He flew to Birmingham to meet with James Andrews himself to make sure Brees was OK to play after surgery. The Dolphins’ team doctors killed it. That’s when he said F the NFL.

Chris Low said it’s very unlikely. I believe him over McElroy.

I’m beginning to think someone trolled GMac or either he’s trying to be the 21st century Herb Winces. (Old farts like me from Alabama will know what I’m talking about.)

Speculation has been that he’d be interested in UWV, his home state school.

I don't believe this b/c Saban helped to get Rich Rod the WV job back.

McElroy now says he does not think Saban will coach again.

Got some clicks out of it though.

So he’s coming to Kentucky? We have mid major talent this year.

He's a college guy.

I would like to see him back at LSU. I think this site would absolutely explode.

I don't think he'd want to wrangle that monster he built again, not at his age.

He would but Miss Terry says she’s never allowing him to wear jorts.

I don’t think McElroy believed Saban was returning to coaching. Who knows if someone actually told him that or if he just made it up. Either way he was just looking to make a splash. He miscalculated, instead of a splash he created a tsunami. I would imagine an intermediary passed along a message from Saban to McElroy to basically keep his name out of his mouth.

McElroy has become just another cog in the ESPN system.
