I agree with you that Saban did leave LSU in a better place than he left Bama, but I think it relates to the overall landscape of current college football.
I'm sure LSU lost some players when Saban left, but it could not have approached the fallout of leaving in early 2024.
Somehow, I don't find Tennessee's struggles against Houston to be comforting concerning Bama's loss to Duke.
Thye National Media has been really hyping BYU. But then, then media is desperate for a "Cinderella" story which are pretty nonexistent this year.
Look, BYU is a great offensive team and is on quite a run right now. Bama has just enough "schizzo" in them that I could see BYU winning on a given day. I just hope it's not today.
The guy that you so graciously won't name isn't a bad guy. His style of play did not fit his team in his freshman year. He had a shooting slump, and it seemed to get in his head. He transferred to a more wide-open style of play which fit his game better and, wouldn't you know it, he found his stroke again. Sometimes, a change of scenery is a good thing.
Please excuse my math from above.

Kirby plus Richt plus Vince
26-18-2 = 59%

Saban plus Bear
34-20-2 = 62,5%

Either way, a nice run under those coaches.

Kirby plus Richt plus Vince
28-18-2 = 63%

Saban plus Bear
34-20-2 = 62.5%

Pretty nice run under those 5 coaches.

Only 1 Bama player might be correlated number of minutes played. Nate Oates plays about 10 players per night with significant minutes. Not sure how that compares with other teams.
Hurts started for 3 years at Alabama, won a National Championship at Alabama and graduated from Alabama.
I have no problem with Oklahoma fans claiming Hurts as one of theirs (because he is) but to make the claim that he is not an Alabama QB is rather pathetic. He references himself as an Alabama QB.
You are quite right. But then, reasonable people laugh at zealots from all fan bases.
It has to be prior to Saban arriving at Bama. UF and LSU were really good in the early and mid 00's.

re: Potential Scheduling Format

It would appear that you have Tennessee listed as permanent opponent for 4 teams (Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, and Vandy.
I think what you are proposing makes sense after corrections, but I doubt the SEC goes to this format. It may be 1-7-7.
1. 2009
2. 2011
3. 2012
4. 2015
5. 2017
6. 2020
If this ruling stands, maybe it leads to the throwing out of all eligibility requirements. Perhaps someone will bring a lawsuit saying that having to attend school to play college football is in violation of antitrust statutes because it prevents non-scholar athletes from earning a living playing football.

Vandy getting a little feisty with a .500 season, I see.

Maybe y'all will have some fans at the stadium next year.
Manuel and the committee put SMU ahead of Alabama based on a better record even with a much worse strength of schedule.
At the time the committee made their choices, Army had a better record than SMU, even if it had a worse strength of schedule.
By Manuel's own reasoning, Army should be in the playoff, and SMU out.
The same 10-2 coaches who complain about being ranked behind 9-3 SEC teams are perfectly OK being ranked ahead of 11-1 Army.
Bama did not lose any home games this year. All of their losses were to bowl teams. They have flaws. Any team ranked 11th, or 12th will have major flaws.
You can claim that Bama has bad losses. I tend to agree with you. But the fact is, Bama lost to 3 teams that are Bowl bound and has impressive wins over UGA, South Carolina, LSU and Mizzou. We have a flawed team.... quite bipolar actually. But any team ranked 11th or 12th by the playoff committee is going to have serious flaws.

It's all much ado about nothing. The ACC likely gets 2 teams in which means only 3 spots for the SEC. Texas, UGA, and Tennessee.
