No one said that it has to be one way or the other.

Most LSU players seem to like being around O but he also demands quite a bit of them.

Good for Coach O.

but Saban's methodology has earned him GOAT status.

Playing for coach O is a better experience than playing for saban. But saban will help you earn more money

Oh yeah. What in the world would the city of Tuscaloosa have done post tornado if it wasn’t for Coach Nick Sabah.

That's not propaganda you jackass. It's a statement of fact.

Yeah. As if your post history doesn’t prove you are a propaganda pimp for the Alabama University.

quote:

Your coach who is 1-4 against Saban at Alabama is what you stand by and would rather have. those people are calling others delusional.

I know you think you are part of the Alabama University Football Program and contribute to it because you are big fan; but my coach just kicked the shite out of your coach, won a national championship, went 15-0 with what many consider the GOAT collegiate football team. Something your coach never did. Now, keep pimping that midget, cum puppy.

I want to read some more of your trite diatribes and nonsensical bullshite you try to portray as facts around here.

He is who he is, this isn’t news to anyone. Not his job to be pals with anyone on the team, including the starting QB. You should also mention Mauck said in that same interview that he regrets not coming back in 04. So it couldn’t have been THAT bad between them.

Also, if you interview enough players you’ll find one that will say any coach was a dick. I’m sure there is someone on Clemson’s roster right now who doesn’t like Dabo, same for LSU and O. Even the player’s coaches play favorites based on who they think is going to help the team more, which will rub someone else the wrong way.

Mauck sounds like he got his feelings hurt. Toughen up.

I appreciate Matt Mauck for coming into the 2001 SEC title game and helping LSU beat Tennessee. And I respect his leadership on the '03 title team.

With all of that said, he was not that good of a quarterback. LSU would have blown out Oklahoma in the '03 title game had Mauck not kept the Sooners in it with his poor play. The defense carried LSU in that game. Mauck was not asked to do much in that offense because LSU had running backs who carried the load. And the defense was one of the top three in LSU history.

Saban is an arse. This is well documented. But Matt Mauck has always gotten way too much credit in Baton Rouge for his contributions to that team, especially from the media.

I don’t think Coach Lord Tornado Jesus has that many first rounders in a single season.

Why are you belittling a terrible tragedy because of a football coach?

I don't get what you're going for here.

I wonder if it ever occured to Mauck that being dismissed like that didn't stoke the competitive fires a little bit. The really good coaches do everything for a reason. I have heard stories from observers about Saban being dismissive of one player, publicly chewing out another while treating yet another player with kid gloves and all players are on the same team at the same time. Ryan Clark I think has a couple good stories out there.

To me, that sounds like Saban knows how to motivate people. Hearing that Saban preferred Randall and/or acting like Saban didn't give a **** about him might have been the difference between National Champ Matt Mauck who played in the NFL and rush off to grad school Matt Mauck.

Oh here we go. Trying to change the narrative. It was a terrible tragedy. And it’s what a guy that makes millions of dollars in that community is supposed to do!

I bet you guys high five each other after taking care of your kids and paying their school tuitions, as well?

I remember what CNS did after the tornadoes.

I’m sorry you can’t disassociate the two.

But AHM21 personally remembers, y’all!

I’m laughing my arse off at how you can turn Matt Mauk’s comments into a conversation about Tornado Jesus!

The OP asks if he has mellowed out any, someone mentions the tornados made him settle down some.

It relates directly to the original topic.

That right there, exactly, is what I've always thought was the secret "magic" of being an exceptional coach - knowing how to separately handle each player in order to get the absolute best out of them as teammates.

Most have their own broad methods, but few understand (or care) how to individualize players on that level of detail, IMO.
