I’ve said nothing bad about that tragedy pussy. I’m saying you guys are putting this man on a Jesus pedestal for something he was supposed to do for the community he makes millions off of.

Now, how many other head coaches would have done the same thing?

And you have the nerve to say Mauck’s feeling we’re hurt?

I don't think the point is that Saban deserved a Nobel Prize, but that Saban's general mellowing can be attributed back to the Tornado (as well as becoming a grandfather).

It was a life altering event for a large chunk of people in Tuscaloosa (and a lot of us with roots and family there), even those not directly devastated by the winds. Doesn't mean he's Ghandi now, but he's definitely not the same guy he was in 2003 (or even 2008).

You're annoying now. You still haven't let a single one of my posts in this thread occur without racing to reply.

I'm bored.

I think maybe you missed something in the thread.

The OP asked "Does it seem like Saban has mellowed out and become more of a player's coach or still the same guy?"

Followed by "Yeah, its pretty common knowledge that the 2011 tornadoes changed him a good bit."

Then, "I've never heard this. Sounds interesting, do you have a link or something?"

Hence, all of the references to that event.

Nobody is "putting this man on a Jesus pedestal." They're simply answering the questions posed.

Are you okay, dude?

So, Matt Mauck’s a little bitch because his comments were blasphemous against a coach who did what he was supposed to do after a tragedy?

It was a tragedy. I have family there. But the people whining about me pointing out Saban was supposed to do shite like that are just as much of whiners as Mauck.

And that is ironic, no?

No one said this.

They were whiny and bitching because he comes across as someone who is complaining.

And you are bitching and whining because I dare say that CNS is supposed to take care of his community after a tragedy.

This is what’s hilarious. The irony in you pointing out Mauck’s whining while whining about me talking about Saban post tornado.

Not a flame- just speaking honestly after decades of observing human psychology, leadership styles etc. I watched that interview Tuesday night and watched it and discussed it with my family- the type of people who you will encounter in your lifetime.

Nick Saban is a classic narcissist. He’s a living breathing narcissistic checklist. Other people essentially exist to glorify Nick Saban. If they fulfill that role, they have succeeded. If not, they have failed. That’s it. People are tools for Nick Saban. When Nick Saban thought Matt Mauck could benefit him, he had no hesitation in calling him. But otherwise he has no use for him . Everybody in Saban’s circle understands this - it’s part of the deal. A high percentage of our leadership is exactly the same- we all know guys like this. They have the ability to be single-minded and achieve large goals, which is Saban in a nutshell. He is personal discipline and consistency personified, to a degree that amazes us mere mortals.

A narcissist does not “ mellow out “- he just learns that it’s in HIS best interest to fake normal constructive emotions and relationships. He can turn it on or off as needed when it’s in his best interest. But the goal always remains solely unapologetically self interest. People on their own terms really don’t interest Saban. He’s not a counselor or a healer- he’s not interested in your life outside of his goals. He’s not going to ever “ take one for the team” or allow himself to be vulnerable in any way.

Hopefully, that is accurate. But in regards to Saban, keep in mind that tornado was in April, not football season. I still think about what a nightmare LSU football would have been in 2005 had Saban remained LSU's coach during Katrina. It would have been a disaster has it happened right at the start of the 2005 football season.

You just complained about the tornado being brought up in this thread without realizing why it was brought up.

You come across as uneducated and someone trying too hard. That's not whining. You've struggled to keep up in this thread and in general you come across as very low educated and filled with Saban envy.

That type LSU fan is the absolute worst, especially when they have no idea how dumb they come across to everyone outside of their bubble.

I'd say he mellowed out. I believe he's consistently cited two events in the last 10 years that changed him from a personality standpoint: the aftermath of the 2011 tornado and his first grandchild being born.

We've moved on to LSU fans diagnosing Saban now.

A narcissist understands intellectually that events like birth and death are supposed to “ mellow “ him even if he doesn’t feel empathetic connections like normal humans do. He understands it’s an expectation that other people have. But as it’s not a natural and authentic emotional response for him he has a decision to make . Does he modify his persona to meet the expectation of others or not ? The answer is, is it in his best interest? That is ALWAYS the logic of the narcissist.

Clearly in 2020 , with Dabo on one side and O on the other- hugs and smiles and tearful Heisman trophy speeches etc- it IS in Saban’s best interest to “ mellow “.
