be fair, I would imagine it’s pretty difficult to recruit basketball players to BYU in the age of NIL.

Arkansas residents are not known to be very smart.

I'm not familiar with his recruiting style, but I suspect initially he will rely on the portal a lot, recruit 4* guys who will stay 2-3 years, and I think that has proven to be the recipe that wins in March. I'm okay with it, even though it's not the splash hire people wanted and expected.

He's a revered player at UK and will get the support from the fan base in due time.

The days of coaches dictating team success are just about over.

It's all about how much your boosters can spend and how good of an off the field/court evaluation and scouting program you have. The level of play is going to lower across the board. You need a fundraiser to keep the money happy. That's the prime directive for the modern coach.

There's no way any rational Kentucky fan can be thrilled the hire. He was way down on their list.

Pope was absolutely the right hire. People who don’t agree are just trolling or don’t know basketball

It might work out, but this was not a good hire at all. Very underwhelming.

but do you have a short list of coaches who would be a better fit outside of Donovan or Hurley?

Kelvin Sampson? I think he would have taken the job.

While at BYU and NIL, I guess it would be hard to give kids $ while having 10 wives to buy handbags for

Counter point, you just built their family a house and offer them a chance to come over seas for an education.

But the same teams in that conference are getting the same type of players. Also he could have won the WAC, and the best he could do is make it to 3 CBI tournaments, and finish 2nd a couple times.

Schools like Duke, Carolina have hired almost strictly by this method.

Duke and Carolina have hired 6 coaches combined since 1980. UK has hired 6 since 1985.

Mormons believe premarital sex is a sin. Soaking is sliding into some sweet sweet Mormon vajeen, but not thrusting. It isn't considered sex by some in their faith.

They also perform something called "shaking". This is when a person or group of people shake the bed whilst two people are engaged in soaking.

You asked. You're welcome.

Google "Mormon underwear" or "Mormon temple garment".
That's good for a laugh.

You knew they were a weird bunch, right?
Did you think people called them weird for no reason?

If anything NIL should be helping BYU. They will always get their fair share of LDS recruits but do you have any idea how much wealth the church, university, and alumni possess? It would make any non-Texas SEC state school blush.
