well said and its clear johnny doesnt understand this. i really think the only way he gets his life back together is to give up football. He could have similar post football success as maurice clarett if he wanted to.

What discipline did Sumlin institute against Manziel aside from a half game suspension in a meaningless game?

To put things in perspective, the "good aggie" Manziel has failed worse than Jamarcus Russell did.

Manziel was fun to watch and I had hoped he would get his stuff together. It's obvious he needs rehab, I mean this has been an issue with this kid forever. Whether or not you like the kid, you have to admit that it would be fun to see what he could do when focussed on the game and put a 100% into it. I don't think he is going to change. Kids like him rarely do. What a waste of such talent.

In all seriousness; the guy should really go get with Mathieu. Take the honey badger up on his offer. Go train with him, live on his couch all summer, watch movies and shite; and just get the frick away.

HB and PP7 working out with Manziel all summer, get him clean; hell just that would put him on an NFL roster.

But he's got to get his circle straight if he does get back on a roster.

Is there any part of this post NOT based on loose assumptions and mixing of issues? My god, you sound like you live in Austin....

...oh wait.

I agree that working out with Mathieu would benefit Manziel greatly

I don't think Manziel can see the forest for the trees though

He has zero perspective on life right now

Hope he figures it out, but his most recent comments don't inspire optimism

I see allot of Manziel in Mathieu. They both are smaller players for their positions, they have an ungodly amount of athleticism, but both absolutely know the game of football. And they absolutely want the game in their hands.

Tyrann's been through it. I read an interview where he talks about "dreaming about the how he is going to play the day before." He's able to find his zone.

Mathieu could help him get/stay sober because he knows what he needs to do to stay clean.

Mathieu could also help him find that zone.

you have absolutely no fricking clue what it takes to get someone "clean" nor about recovery in general. your course of action would be an unmitigated disaster for everyone involved.

and i say this as a die-hard Tiger fan...a Tiger fan who is in long-term recovery.

I never thought I would read a sentence like that, but I agree 100%.

Just for fun, let's look at Manziel's stats against LSU:

quote:

Career against LSU:
Passing: 45/97 (46%), 500 yards, 1 touchdown, 5 interceptions
Rushing: 29 rushes, 81 yards, 0 touchdowns.

Oh I see you quit your hilarious "I'm a longhorn who hates Aggy shtick." That was so awesome bud- lots of laughs from everyone.

Also as adorable: your line of BS that Manziel wasn't exhibiting problems in college. What a joke. You and your mouth breathing brethren love to point fingers (it was Pettine! It's a horns media conspiracy! Derp derp derp!!) but never put blame where it (at least partly) belongs: your program.
A&M under Sumlin has been a total shitshow off the field. Look at the quarterback situation from the last 5 years, look at your 2013 recruiting class, look at videos of drunk head coach, it goes on and on. The atmosphere is a total lack of responsibility- cool DJs in practice though.

I know I know- tu sucks and we had a shitty record and Strong sucks blah blah blah. Stop deflecting. You created the world that created JFF. You think he'd be this big a trainwreck right now if he had had more guidance than your enabling coach? But next year right?

If you read the S.I. lengthy article last mth, JF, according to his best high school friend, and he were getting away with stuff back then. He partied a lot as well. So, none of this is new. Where I hole Sumlin responsible is that he had to know that JF sold his autographs, and more importantly, risked throwing his teammates under the bus by possibly getting caught & ruled ineligible, ruining their season. Yet, obviously, winning meant more to Sumlin than this kid. But, as for getting help from Mathieu, JF at one point was hanging round LaBron, was getting advice from several former NFL Qb's, his father tried & tried to help him. So, why would Mathieu have any better results? Before someone can be helped, he has to recognize he has a problem. JF just keeps partying on.Addiction or not, he's been offered some of the best help money and/or family love can provide. And he basically says "screw it, partying is not illegal". So he's been making bad choices going back yrs. And does not care, apparently: he's moved in with Josh Gordon? A dope head?
