I certainly didn't think the "lazy" Gene Chizik comparisons would be dead-on. Some people don't know how to handle success and O is one of them. FTR, this roster with competent coaching, is easily the third best roster in this conference.

Really low given all the new players, coaches and COVID. Figured a throw away year.

I think being realistic any fans of a team that has 3 straight top 5 recruiting classes will and should expect at least a top 10 team. What we got of course isn’t even top 25. In reality those top 5 classes can distract from one very important fact: LSU has not been getting quality offensive linemen, and our OL is absolutely horrendous. That was compounded last year by pelini, this year jones has been solid but with zero running game you can’t hold leads. We almost coughed up the state game and did cough up the auburn game due to a complete inability to run.

Much different than how it all played out.

Fair enough?

You can probably find my pre-season prediction. I thought 7 wins. That might be off by a bit

11-1 to 9-3. I thought the defense was gonna be salty and I thought there was no way the o line would be as bad as it was last year. We had everyone coming back, we had to be better.

Nope.

Chiz was never lazy but he struggled with how to maintain control.

I actually like several of these LSU guys. Seem like objective, good baws. Then Nissan has to come and wreck it to heck

I think Ed is in a downward spiral. Too much money and available women on a level he has never experienced is the anchor around his neck

People seem to be missing that you’re asking before last season. I thought LSU would be in playoff contention by this year and last year would be 7-3ish. I thought there would still be good vibes and we would be riding high off 19 still, not a total dumpster fire.

Yeah, but that’s ok, got honest feedback which is a plus around here.

Like I said before, that ‘99-‘00 stretch for Bama was similar. Your expectations after a championship season is through the roof and then you get slapped down with a pile of crap. I know the feeling.

Yes that has been obvious. CEO is a good recruiter and yawyaw guy, but does not understand how to sustain excellence. He make good hires in 19 and recruited the right QB. But he does not understand success and what got him there. It’s harder to maintain than to climb the hill.

My expectations a year ago were to at least be 9-3.

Even the most realistic LSU fan couldn’t have predicted this hot mess of a clusterfrick that the program has become. Holy shite it’s bad and I really don’t know how long it will take even a great coach to turn it around. LSU has been set back so many years because of Coach O.

I didn’t mean to imply that ChiIk was lazy. I meant I thought the narrative that O was Chizik was lazy. Obviously I was wrong.

The same as every year, 10 wins, top 10 finish and a NY6 bowl. That's how LSU recruits. That should be the floor

You can't set a floor based on a recruiting ranking. Who hasn't seen LSU's top recruiting class with a huge glaring hole or get overloaded at certain positions? Recruiting rankings tell you zilch about balance or positions of need.

2021 was circled as a banner year after the 2018 season and 2019 recruiting cycle. 2019 season felt like a dream bonus. However, I was expecting Brennan to be in his second year of starting, Stingley to be healthy, Emery to be the second coming of Guice, and most of that 2019 class to be beasts.

The current state sucks, but it's not as bad as many of you hope. A coaching change is absolutely necessary, but once that happens there is still plenty talent on the roster and in the state. LSU can make a quick recovery with the right staff.

Because the OL recruiting as been anywhere from bad to nonexistent.

And could you ever have imagined that it would turn out the way that it has? Was the current state of your program even a blip on your radar a little over a year ago?

I knew we would have a tough year last season, but this year was supposed to be better. My pitchfork is out.
