I think a good argument can be made that Bama/LSU is the best rivalry in the SEC right now.
Bama/Auburn fans can't wait to massage each other's backs.

Every fanbase has a vocal minority. If people are judging a fanbase by what they read on a message board or what online, they are probably going to get to that opinion.
LSU is in a weird place with no true number one rival. I think it depends on who you talk to. For me, it’s always been about Alabama. My father went to LSU and his business partner went to Bama. As a kid in the 70’s and 80’s, I heard them talking shite constantly so I’ve always disliked Bama. In his generation it was ole miss. In my kids generation, it’s Florida or maybe aTm

The LSU fanbase thinks that if you frick with them or make jokes about them, then they're your rival.

LSU doesn't really have it in the pants to push Alabama. They're not committed.
But Auburn? Here's how committed they are. Once they come to the realization that they have nothing to play for, other than the very last game of the season, the playbook closes and they sell everything else out just to win one game.
See New Mexico State.
Now that's a real rivalry. Pathetic but a rivalry nonetheless.
