Winning the SEC and making the playoffs, yes.

My point is that while those things did happen, it was fool’s gold. 2023 Alabama was basically 2007 LSU without the title, and I think you and all Bama fans know that. Bama should not have accomplished either of those things in the first place. My point is that Saban isn’t Saban anymore, hasn’t been for several years, and thinking Saban is somehow going to save DeBoer’s job is a pipe dream. DeBoer MIGHT get a 3rd season if he can somehow keep it to 3 losses for at least 1 of the first 2.

Despite what a lot of uniformed, wishful thinking idiots said, Saban LOVES Alabama. So much so that he is still involved and lives in Ttown while his mansion in South Florida sits vacant. He already stated Tuscaloosa will continue to be his place of residence.
I firmly believe that Until the day he dies Saban will have some involvement in the Crimson Tide program.

If you thought that LSU fans took Bama's success under Saban poorly, it will pale in comparison to what will happen if DeBoer is successful here.

There are a lot of opposing fans that are so nervous that Alabama is still going to be very good despite all their wishcasting on here.

First off, what kind of speculative Georgia blog bullshite is this?

Second, Wommack (the DC) is installing a new base package, and he’s meeting with Saban to explain his concepts and the new terminology.

So you’re right about them meeting, wrong about who’s leading it.

What's the contradiction? All he did was define the boundaries.

He's just there to be useful, not to be a distraction or back seat coach. Saban is not the AD, he is not his boss like you've seen other coaches do.

You have to be an idiot to think having Saban around to give advice on the little details is a bad. Got a recruiting trip coming up? Saban can help with what he knows about the coaches, the town, the players, etc.

Imagine being DeBoer and having to follow Saban in the first place. That job is tough enough. Now imagine having daddy watch over your shoulder everytime you try to ride without the training wheels. That situation could blow up in all their faces.

Imagine following the best coach in college football, who’s Process for perfection has been in place for nearly two decades. A process that rendered more championships than any other living college football coach.

Imagine being able to gain advice and information from the man. Imagine having knowledge and information about NFL scouts, and letting him make the necessary introductions to the high school coaches that pump out the best players. Saban is a valuable resource who knows a lot of people, having him on hand can be an asset.

I've stated my respect for Coach Saban numerous times on this board.. this is in no way, a shot at him or what he accomplished while at bama, but i gotta ask - y'all not concerned about having two captains on one ship? seems like a recipe for disaster

important caveat - if anyone could pull it off, it'd prolly be Saban imho.

So Saban and Bama lied to players and recruits about his level of involvement to keep them from leaving.

Lies and deceit are not a good foundation to build a team. But it’s par for the course for scum Bama.

Most of the gump posters here will spin their heads around in circles to believe the program isn’t in decline. The exact things they would see as negatives for another program are things they will ignore or deny for Bama because of past success. It won’t become real for them until they see things fall apart in the field.

Imagine believing that hiring a guy who was confident enough to show zero hesitation in following the greatest coach in CFB history is a bad thing. Then also imagine believing that having said greatest coach in CFB history around to give you and your staff advice is somehow also a negative.

Corndogs, man. They just can't help themselves.

There will be no more said "college dynasties" due to NIL and the transfer portal (tied to NIL). College athletics are now basically play-for-pay. Why do you think Saban left to begin with?

Define successful. Saban needed 2 miracles and a season ending injury at FSU just to get the opportunity to lose to a mediocre Michigan team. He barely beat Auburn this year. I’m sure DeBoer will have no issue beating Auburn most of the time and losing to Michigan. Those are not high benchmarks.

Saban couldn’t do it on the field this year, he won’t be able to do much off the field next year. Maybe a few pearls of wisdom here and there, that’s about it.

Dude, you sound like every whiny lsu fan on here. You and your ilk are so broken that you continue to spout stupid statements over and over.

At least we can count on the commitment level of internet user JetDawg to all things Bama.
