Looking like Saban's contradicting his stated level of involvement with Tide program

"Nick Saban said he tries to stay “arm’s length” away from the program, and yet, he’s meeting with the Alabama defensive coordinator this week and said he talks with Kalen DeBoer “every now and then.”

Saban, who has an office at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, seemed to contradict the level of involvement he will have with the Crimson Tide during his retirement."

There might not be another non-Alabama media person more obsessed with Alabama than Mike Griffith. That shite is creepy.

Saban's influence on the program will only lessen if Deboer is successful.

I for one would welcome any advice from Saban. I would encourage my assistants to consult with Saban as much as possible.

You'd be an absolute idiot not to.

You know, it's really simple. If you don't want fans of other teams thinking about your team, then don't beat other teams so much. You can't win at the rate Alabama does and expect to live in obscurity. I would think Alabama fans, of all fans, would be used to having a target on their back by now.

I remember back in the early 2000s, no one was really thinking about Alabama outside of game week. Perhaps, for your sake, those days are returning.

I'm trying to imagine myself waking up every day thinking about Kirby Smart and then posting something about him.

Thank you for your interest in our program.

Define successful. Saban needed 2 miracles and a season ending injury at FSU just to get the opportunity to lose to a mediocre Michigan team. He barely beat Auburn this year. I’m sure DeBoer will have no issue beating Auburn most of the time and losing to Michigan. Those are not high benchmarks.

Saban couldn’t do it on the field this year, he won’t be able to do much off the field next year. Maybe a few pearls of wisdom here and there, that’s about it.

The Bama fans thought he was gonna be their John Lynch. Griffith enjoys poking the Tide Fans. Listen to him on Finebaum and then on other shows. Totally different interviews.
