Pulled pork > brisket
if i'm going on daily eating and versatility, i agree with this.
i smoke probably 10-15 briskets a year, just because my friends and family request that the most. my son's friends in particular want me to make them when we have gatherings. my wife really doesn't like pork, so i don't make it much, but if my family is going out of town and i want to get drunk by the smoker i'd much rather do a pulled pork or smoked turkey.
there's a pretty fantastic smoked turkey grilling method involving mayo, Tony C's creole butter, and cajun seasoning that i'd put against just about any brisket.
ETA: i generally hate turkey, but one of my friends that runs a tri-supply and gets in with all the smoker/traeger/green mountain folk gets tons of meat and recipes from the sales reps. he made it for me and i was forever sold.

Okay letter followed by 7 numbers guy...Clearly a bot with bad takes like this....
I wont say no to brisket, when done right its very good.
Pulled Pork>Brisket
Mustard base> Vinegar>Others

Next you'll tell me Pork Tenderloin over Beef Tenderloin.
Actually yeah, I like pork tenderloin better.
However, great brisket is better than great pulled pork. Good pulled pork is better than good brisket.
That may seem counterintuitive, but brisket perfection is incredible but is damn hard to accomplish. While pulled pork is going to be good unless you really, REALLY frick it up

exans can smoke some meat (pun intended), but their sides and any sauce offerings, generally, straight up trash. It really isn’t barbecue in the traditional sense. My favorite barbecue is honestly Kansas City. Those ribs, burnt ends, sauce…
Gross. Nothing is more overrated than KC bbq.
As for sauces, mostly I agree, but there was a sauce I bought from a truck stop around Victoria Texas that came in a quart glass beer bottle. It was the best sauce I’ve ever had for beef. Period. I can’t remember the name or the brand but shite that was good.

I stopped off at the gator junction truck stop just on the Texas side of the LA/TX border around Groves/Orange area to get their famous chopped brisket sandwich.
It was a fricking sloppy Joe. I’ve never been more disappointed in my whole life

As most real BBQ experts will attest, you bring out the sauce because the meat itself was done poorly.
And yeah, KC bbq is by far the most overrated.

There. I said it. They can’t even do brisket right. That’s all. They should be ashamed.
What's even crazier is they think it's BBQ.
Only pork is BBQ. If it ain't swine, it ain't fine.

Well who cares?
Now can they do whole hog pulled pork, because that's REAL BBQ?

I like all styles of BBQ and don’t understand why there has to be a winner? Anyone saying brisket isn’t barbecue has clearly never smoked one. It’s a damn art form and more people fail at making it than succeed.

Austin sucks in 1000 different ways, but has good BBQ

Here's the thing, really good brisket is better than really good pulled pork, but on average pulled pork is superior. I remember my first experience with Texas "bbq". I opened the styrofoam container and just saw a pile of what looked like chopped up charcoal. I said "what the hell is this? Thought I ordered bbq?" It was only edible when smothered in sauce.

Anybody can get out of bed falling down drunk and cook good pork. Its hard to screw up unless you cook it so it looks like a charcoal briquett.
Cooking a brisket for ~ 10 hours is an art. Doing it consistently well day after day and year after year for +/- 50 years is noteworthy.
Since ya'll will be coming this way in a few years, a sampling of some of the best smoked meats within 50 miles of Austin. Don't mean to leave anyone out, just the ones I've patronized over the years.
Taylor; Mueller's (1949)
Elgin; Southside Market (1882), best beef sausage on the planet
Lockhart; Kreuz (1875), Blacks (1932) or Smitty's (1948)
Luling: City Market (1958)
Driftwood; Salt Lick (1967)
Llano; Coopers (1964)
Austin; Franklin's (2009)

Gonzo Smokehouse has better BBQ than Franklin or any other prestigious place in Texas. It was only a matter of time until we had the best BBQ restaurant pop up considering we’re the king of almost every other type of food
