who are the 5 losses? Pitt won't be half as good as last year. Us and bama are certain losses and LSu is a near certain loss. I don't see them losing 2 others.
It's a good question. Pitt loses everything that made them so dangerous in last years game and we gave them all they wanted even with Kenny Pickett and Jordan Addison. Ironically the one time we schedule them is the first time they're dangerous in decades and go onto finish 11-3 and win the ACC. They're expected to take a fairly big step back with losing their star players though while Tennessee is expected to take a step forward in year 2.
I think the other line of thinking is that Tennessee loses 1 to Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri or Vandy. It's possible, but UT is 11-1 against these 4 teams over the last 3 years. The only competitive game out of those 4 teams last season was UK in Lexington.
It's going to sound homerish and it's not my intention to do that - but I don't know how anyone other than people who have disdain for UT pencil any of those in as an automatic loss.
In my mind I see the schedule breaking down like this:
Likely wins:
1. Ball State
2. Akron
3. UT Martin
4. Vandy
5. South Carolina
6. Missouri
Toss ups that I lean UT on:
1. Pittsburgh
2. Kentucky (This should be a true toss up, but UK finds a way to shite the bed against us)
Toss ups that I lean on the opponent:
1. Florida (This should be a true toss up, but UT finds a way to shite the bed against UF)
2. LSU
Games I see as losses:
1. Georgia
2. Alabama

How many firearms arrests has UGA had this year? And we are not even in UGA arrest season yet. Get out of here with that weak shite.

2022 Schedule
vs Ball State W
@ Pittsburgh W
vs Akron W
vs Florida mental tossup
@ LSU W
vs Alabama L
vs UT Martin W
vs Kentucky annual W
@ Georgia L
vs Missouri W
@ Carolina W
@ Vanderbilt W
They lose one they shouldn’t for a freak reason 9-3. floor is 7-5 ceiling is 11-1.
Next year is the real question for me. Can they sustain positive momentum with the core of the team not going to be there.

I see 8-4 or 9-3 with a few games that will make the difference. LSU, Florida and UK. If they win those I see 10-2 even possible. More likely they go 1-2 or 2-1 in those.

That's a good breakdown TRT.
Also agree Smokeyone although I think 8-4 maybe. What do I know.

I will bet any amount of money Tennessee does not go 10-2 and 11-1 is so dumb it doesn’t deserve a response. I say 7-5 or 8-4

Differences in this year and last.
Game is at Pitt - Advantage Pitt
Pickett won't play for Pitt - Advantage UT
Addison won't play for Pitt - Advantage UT
Milton won't start for UT - Advantage UT

I’m with you on Florida. I’ve conditioned myself mentally to chalk that up as an L until proven wrong (which rarely if ever happens). Seen way too many TERRIBLE Florida teams find a way to beat Tennessee over the years. We always play up tight against Florida the same way Kentucky always plays with a stick up their arse against us in football.
LSU game though is definitely interesting. How heathy each team is going into that game will determine how I’m betting that game. We probably lose just because winning in Tiger Stadium is hard generally, but I wouldn’t be stunned if we beat them in a shootout either.

We should beat Pitt this year. No excuses whatsoever, especially after them losing Pickett and their stud WR. If we don’t beat Pitt again then I’ll officially think we are in trouble.
I have a hard time believing the home field advantage Pitt will have in a half filled Pittsburg Steelers Stadium will be a factor that decides the game.

One of the only losses I can remember where I did zero bitching about the coach’s scheming. Heupel put us in position to win by 21 points last year. Unfortunately Milton wouldn’t hit water if he fell out of a boat.
