Will it eventually translate to legit NFL talent?

defense good enough to win a NC though

Auburns defense was real stout last year wasn't it...btw have you looked at our defense lately???? It is very highly thought of...at least by people paid to evaluate things like this ..maybe not ranters.

Good head coach and likeable guy except to LSU fans who will go back to doubting him when he loses his next game. I like Coach Miles but he doesn't scare me at LSU like someone who I think could better utilize the talent at LSU and can recruit as well as him. Coaches I don't want at LSU would be or rather would have been Kelly, Peterson, Whittingham and a one or two others. Who is the coach at TCU?

His defense last year was better than Auburns...so obviously he can

No. Not really

Our secondary sucked but we could absolutely shut down the run and make big plays when we needed them with our dLine.

We also had a lights out player on defense.

Where was his Cam Newton that could put the entire team on his back and go win a game for him? He didn't have one. News flash, those types of players come around about once every 5-10 years, if ever.

Well we got 3 last year from Arky and could add 5-6 this year in the draft(Bequette, Childs, Davis, Franklin,Thomas, Wright/Adams)

the overall talent is getting better

we talking offense now? Petrino's O's are always near the top in the country...Defense really wasn't the problem last year nor will it be this year

Whenever you think of SEC football, LSU comes to mind. Saturday Night in Death Valley comes to mind.
CBS is working hard to eliminate "Saturday Night" from the phrase.

No. You were talking about AU's defense being shitty, and I was just saying it didn't have to be good because they had a single player and one of the best OL's in a long time that could win games for them, easily.

I agree that Les is a top 5 coach. I don't care who recruited the players. The same stupid argument can be made about saban and shulas player. It's just false. Both ns and clm are great.

I still think Les is lucky as hell. But his track record is good and hard to argue with. I like Les's personality more than I do as him as a coach.

No more lucky than riding the coattails of your OC and paid off qb to a title

Yeah, wasn't auburn one of the only teams to win the bcsnc w/o a highly ranked defense? Even then, their d line basically won the Oregon game.

Not sure why ppl would doubt les at this point. We had a bad defensive year and he went and signed chavis. We have qb issues so he picked up an OC that works with qbs and signed mett.

The state of Louisiana has been down lately so he signed a lot of highly ranked oos guys and our staff has coached up guys like claiborne and sheppard. Our 09-11 classes are by far the strongest classes since les has been here and the staff is solid. Plenty of teams want Wilson, cooper, and chavis but they have stayed with les.

The sec west is tough but les will most likely win another bcsncg in the next three years.

Yes, one of 2 teams who didn't have a top 10 defense. The other being Ohio State. Both were in the bottom half of CFB.

Les is going to need to find a way to lose fewer then 2 games in a year. Don't think he can pull off another 2 loss national championship team again.

I'm not sure if he's an elite coach or is just surrounded with so much talent that it's hard to loose.

I find this argument hilarious. Part of being a HC in college football is recruiting this talent. What do you think, people are just beating down the doors to come to LSU without being recruited?
