I did feel good as soon as he put up the board.
That third down play and every route was like 5 yards. No one even pushing their safeties back.
Watching the Tulane game now. They brought almost no pressure and sat in Nickel all night with 2 deep safeties. Even though Ole Miss was lining up with a TE or multiple running backs most of the time.

Lane definitely drew up some nice plays but Tulane was playing super conservative. At least in the first half.

Looking forward to seeing us pressure him. We do great when we send 5. We rarely don’t get some one through since we bring the 5th guy from so many different spots.
Pate made his call on us before the season started and is trying way too hard to justify it. It’s sad really.
Pros - either Weston Davis learned how to block for a few plays or we signed him out.

Cons - Kaleb Jackson got in the game and Nuss hates us.
Def something we need to work on. Got a lot of holding calls on punt returns last year too, IIRC.

2nd and 7 in the third

Last year, we would almost always run it on 2nd and 10. It would usually go for 2 yards and we’d have 3rd and 8.

With 7 or so minutes in the third, it looked like we were going to run it up the middle like usual. Clemson’s LB runs right through an opening in the line, wide open towards the RB, but it’s an RPO! Nuss pulls it and hits Anderson for a quick slant 1 yard short of the first down. Then Nuss does the fake check with me move and sneaks it for the first.

I’m sure you’ve all seen the videos of Sloan calling some creative plays this game and this is just an RPO, but really encouraged by just doing the simple things well too.
I felt like we blitzed almost every play in the 2nd half and I loved it. We sent 5 a lot, which is all you need most of the time and sent 6 a good bit too. The last blitz was beautiful. 3 DL and Weeks and Perkins looping around on each side. Their QB never stood a chance on that play.
Was hoping we’d abandon the obvious 2nd and 10 inside run this year.
I’d like to start off with Hilton taking the top off and them playing safeties back for the rest of the night.
The entire defense. 1st and 2nd team.
Maybe this year, we will throw them off and run it on first down sometimes instead of 2nd and 10.

We need to deploy the unstoppable one counter play we ran versus Florida a few years ago. That was hilarious.
I haven’t watched it since January, but I came here to mention the Baylor game too. I haven’t looked into how good their defense was but I remember being impressed with our line that was without 3 or 4 starters.
I love that LSU’s baseball restoration has inspired you.
