Where this is all going is departure from the NCAA. But first a number of things have to happen.

Either greatly expand or another conference leaves the NCAA also.....have to capture all the Teams that are usually in the top 20. ...There would be dual systems ie nCAA and SEC ( or other system) so have to include all the top 20 schools to have separation....

More complete sports programs in the SEC are needed. SEC needs to add wrestling and men’s gymnastic to start. Very surprised to see SEC doesn’t have those sports.

The flys in the ointment include:

Politics, politics politics.....

Several schools use to have wrestling and were eliminated for Title IX.Adding

Adding 2 scholarship sports for men aren't a possibility for almost every SEC school and Title IX is Fed Law and has nothing to do with NCAA

I see that some SEC schools have women’s gymnastics but not men’s gymnastics. The dropping of wrestling due to title 9 doesn’t pass the smell test. Wrestling may have been dropped due to being a money drain. If the SEC schools can’t afford wrestling the Big 10 should leave NCAA also as a solution to finding a place for competition in more sports than the SEC has......

You tx and ou fans should compel your administrations to reach out to the Big 10/11/12 about this. It will be heartbreaking for SEC fans but we will survive.

The ghey is strong with this one.

Non revenue sports won't factor into the death of the NCAA.

It's what happened regardless of passing "smell test" or nit.

A) Wrestling in the south is only big if it’s WWE. Our high schools just don’t do it.
B) Title IX killed off so many sports or reduced them to club sports level across the south. Title IX killed Olympic sports in southern colleges for years.

In southern high schools you generally see Football, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Volleyball, Track, Soccer, and Cheer. Anything outside that and it’s hard to find opponents or meets. Swimming and Lacrosse are growing but not common.

How much profit do SEC schools make from athletics? I expect some do and some don’t. OU makes profit and gives money to University.....

Which ones ? Swimming,Track&Field and Womens Gymnastcs are dominated by SEC schools

Thé reason some BIG and BIG XII schools have wrestling and mens Gymnastcs is because they have à higher percentage of mâles than females enrolled.

Here is an article about revenue producing athletics. You will notice that your program trails UGA, A&M, and Alabama. You will also notice that only 25 athletic programs actually made money. Why is that? Because the non revenue sports, including wrestling, costs more than the revenue it generates.

Like any team, there are good and bad OU fans. Like any forum, there are good and bad posters. Just a note, though, that this Zgeo fellow has been a shitty poster on the open Rivals board for years, so don't expect much from this one.

I would've agreed with you 10 years ago but now we have DC's making $2 million à year.We have baseball coaches making à $1 million+ à year. Wé have numerous schools taking on ridiculous long term debt To compete in the facility arms race.

Title IX doesnt help but ils not thé reason several schools are spending money as fast as they make it.

Bama did when I was in school there.

I think they should add ice hockey. Add a sport where there is already interest regionally. Plus, Bama has a pretty damm good club team.

While Louisiana is not on par with the north in competition, there are a lot of schools here with programs.

Not even in the league yet and already trying to politic to get us to leave the NCAA! …Typical move can tell things aren’t going to go your way so try and change the game or take your ball and leave.
