If Lane would have handled things somewhat professionally, he likely would have been able to coach in the playoffs. Honestly, if you were in our position and Lane was openly flying his family around to different job markets, would you allow him to coach? Look at the difference in how Sumrall handled the situation at Tulane compared to Lane. night and day. Lane could not have handled things worse if he tried...Once Texas or Bama open up, you'll see the real Lane....he is a grade A POS

It just goes back to that double standard. Other coaches were doing it and so was he. The way the playoffs are set up now is unfortunate… a lot of things need to be changed.

Lane quit on a playoff team.
He has a track record of leaving a team mid season. Raiders USC Bama and Ole Miss he left the team before the season was completed.

Did you actually read what you typed? Whether he was “professional” or not y’all were NEVER going to let him coach the team in playoffs. Regardless of how you will want to try and spin it, you told him he could not coach that playoff team unless he was locked into a long-term contract. Plain and simple. You guys kind of fricked him over too. He built that team.

Again, if he were not openly flying his family around to FL and Baton Rouge, not even trying to be somewhat discrete, he may have been able to coach.
Lane had one foot out the door after the OK game. He did not deserve to coach in the playoffs. NO program would have allowed him to coach

Serious question though: What could he have possibly done differently? Obviously y’all would say “he could’ve just stayed at Ole Miss” and I get that but 99% of coaches are leaving Ole Miss for a better job at LSU. Sorry but that’s the harsh truth. The timing of everything sucked but he had to make a decision, which he did in a somewhat timely fashion. Just wasn’t the decision y’all wanted. Ole Miss fans just constantly moan and groan about how he left, trying to “burn the place down on his way out” when he literally just wanted to finish the job and coach his team (obviously wasn’t ever going to happen).

I would actually say he's more like boomer political or economic leaders--what's good for me first, to heck with what's good for everyone else. It's an attitude that's been poisonous for American society for nearly 5 decades, and American society is getting pretty sick of it. It's partly why you're seeing incumbents in hot races, and will likely see major turnover in offices in November. This way of leading may have short term advantages, but it's causing long term damage.
