Your feeble attempt at a backhanded insult to the Alabama people is both transparent and pathetic. You need to check your schools past before proceeding. I worked in Columbus, Ga., in the car business and I know how much Auburn athletes got their "cause helped"! I was involved with Frank Thomas' daddy "buying" him his first car.

I don't think Kirby has the personality or mental toughness to match Saban's on field success - or even come close.

You disagreed with an idiotic post from vcu with some seriously flawed logic. Ask yourself, Why did we fire richt? Whatever the answer is, it's Not because of low expectations.

Why not be happy for the guy? He's learned from the best in the business and will most certainly take that knowledge with him in mentoring and coaching up his new team.
I think he'll be successful @ UGA and I wish him well. Plus, he has the benefit of playing in the East (no offense to the East) where the grind isn't quite as dire as the West. Hell, a first year coach went to the SECCG - that should tell you enough.

Congrats on being the only Auburn fan stupid enough to still use this talking point.

I had the pleasure of getting to know him a little bit back in 2000. I have a cabin on a private fishing pond below Lake Park, Ga. and took him bass fishing twice. He was the DB coach at Valdosta State at the time and I met him at my friends hunting club. Started talking about fishing and invited him to go out on the lake whenever he had time. I was an 8th grade HC at the time and a UGA alum so we talked a little about his playing days at UGA and his experience so far as a coach. Talked mainly about hunting and fishing during the grand total of 6 hours I spent with the guy on the lake. I never could have envisioned, at that time, the track he would take. Not sure he could have either. We talked one more time after the second fishing outing about another outing and next thing I knew he was gone to FSU.
Point being that I actually spent time with the guy when he was younger and couldn't tell you one thing about his mental toughness. He was just a young (and much skinnier) DII coach who was extremely humble and well mannered and liked to hunt and fish. Would love to have a chance to see him again and tell him that had I known he would be earning 4 million a year in 16 years I would have wanted a deferred payment on the two monsters he caught out of the lake.

If this were the case, then we've definitely got Kirby for a while. We've had no trouble beating Auburn for the better part of 10 years. Auburn is further down the list of teams we're worried about beating. Now if you were a UF fan, you might have an argument.

Aubs are pissed about the hire....Saban at Bama and Kirby at UGA....and they still have Gus.

This is a very dumb opinion. Nobody is expecting him to perform at the same level as Saban is at Alabama, this is being talked about the best run in CFB history remember?
You not thinking he has the skills to be a successful head coach takes is just as valid as something thinking he does have the skills at this point.

The entire SEC will be better off when Saban retires.

You've clearly given this a lot of thought.
Switching gears, could you possibly predict the short and long-term outcomes of a Donald Trump presidency? Can he "win" beyond just winning the job?

So UGA finally fires Richt, the coach for which every SEC fanbase for years now has said is an underachieving mess....so we fire him and hire a proven DC in the SEC with a fist full of National Title rings and also a knock out recruiter as well as UGA alumni,a nd lets not forget, studied under probably the greatest college football coach of all time for 10 years, and somehow we fricked up again?
Well.....if his intention is to build another Alabama at Georgia I'd say there's a legitimate possibility that you could have made a mistake.
Trying to out Alabama, Alabama, has proven to be a loser's game time and time again. Why would Kirby Smart be any different?
I don't have a dog in that fight but it's strange to me that anybody in that league would try to build their program in Alabama's image hoping to unseat Alabama and Saban with it.

I don't think he wants to duplicate anything or build "another Bama". They're going to look the same simply because he spent 10 years at Alabama and it's what he knows the most. He's focused on getting UGA over the hump and if there are similarities to Bama in the process, well then I guess there could be worse problems.

What image should one who aspires to be a perennial elite program use other than Alabama? They are the standard bearer. Yes, no? Is there another team image out there in which it would be easier to unseat Alabama? The last 7 years says there is not. No offense, but your logic is weird.

Kirby may not be a long term solution but he has a potential superstar at QB...
