Maybe. Smart universities have seen what A&M and FSU done. They’re not gonna set themselves up in $100 MM buyout clauses and get fked for a decade or more.

Just wait till Elko gets to Atlanta and makes the CFP semifinal then Penn State calls

Sexton is only doing what his clients are telling him to do.

Then you're a moron, because, as I said in the OP, NOTHING is going to happen until December. I would be shocked if it did. We are all playing the waiting game. The difference between you and me is we are waiting to see if we make the playoffs THIS season and you are waiting to see if you can jackoff on your coaching hire to possibly be somewhat relevant in the next 2-3 years.

Ole Miss fans are the ones bringing it up every five minutes trying to convince themselves he is going to stay.

The coaches hire agents to advise them, not the other way around. Sexton and other agents guide every move these coaches make. Do the coaches have ultimate say? Yes, but up until that point the agent is telling them what the best route to go is, and most of the time, the coaches are just following their lead. They're vultures.

The reality is nobody knows except the guy making the decision. There's a lot of negotiating that will happen and nobody knows what LSU is doing with Kelly. I'm sure Sexton would love for LSU to open so that he can have a bidding war on his hands.

Kiffin is smart to wait. Even if he loses to OU, he will be favored in the rest of his games and has a great chance of making the playoffs. And if he beats OU and finishes 11-1 programs are going to toss top dollar at him. As a guy who has been left on the tarmac by a team, and also left a team on the tarmac, so to speak (Tennessee) he has seen both highs and lows of the cutthroat coaching business, so I don't blame him.

And I think Kiffin is being way overvalued here, but if Scott Srticklin could land him, it would release a lot of pressure on him from our fanbase, as it would at any other program.

Same with Ole Miss keeping him. Rebs will want to throw a parade for their AD.

If Kiffin is not super successful going forward, the AD can always say that he did what the alumni and fans wanted, so don't blame him.

Excellent post, my man.

I can say, as an Ole Miss fan, that losing Kiffin would not be ideal, but we have successfully marketed ourselves as a great program willing to pay top dollar to support a coach with pay, assistant pay, fan support, NIL, and the complete support of the administration. Other good coaches will be happy to come to Oxford. So we will ultimately be fine.

Lane’s got a big one from what I’ve heard, why would he need an extension.

I’ve read here that Florida is a broken program and that Billy Napier had a lot of success in Louisiana. Maybe Ole Miss should get him. That would really embarrass Florida if Kiffin doesn’t work out at UF and Napier works at Ole Miss. That would settle things once and for all.

Let your hate guide you, I always say. Turn the brain off.

You are such a dumbass. We are averaging 110% of capacity since Covid. We even went 5,000 over capacity for a game against Georgia Southern. (A team you have lost to)

I think Kiffin not signing an extension with Ole Miss before the season ends, at minimum, means he's at least considering offers from other schools. For instance, Cignetti signed an extension 2 weeks ago with Indiana to avoid exactly what is going to be happening with Kiffin after the regular season if he doesn't sign an extension soon.

Elko, Drinkwitz, Golesh, Brohm... acting the same as Lane.

those last 3 will absolutely consider offers from bigger programs after the season, so it makes sense why they're not signing extensions with their current schools mid-season.

Yeah and Elko is going to leverage openings for more money as well.

I wish Kiffin would follow what Cignetti did, but Cignetti is also 2 losses away from teams losing interest. He's one of the best coaches in america and what he's done at Indiana is remarkable, but if he loses a game or 2 he shouldn't, the age thing becomes more of a factor. O, do we really want a guy who might be retiring in 5 years. Yeah he's done well at Indiana but he's got less than 2 years of success at a high level, etc... Kiffin has 5+ years of "success" at Ole Miss and he's been a big name in football for 20 years. If he loses out the rest of the season, big schools will still point to multiple years of success at Ole Miss, his name, and all the attention he brings to a school. Plus, Kiffin is like Jerry Jones, he enjoys being talked about and being the center of attention. That extension gets signed today and all the talk is about Drink, Sumrall etc... Kiffin's ego enjoys being the topic of debate SEC network, gameday, and social media

If he doesn’t sign an extension by November, Florida can have him. Like someone else said, Cignetti signed his extension earlier. Lane could do it now or he is holding out for more money or he’s leaving. Either way, it’s a shitty thing to do
