Excellent fricking policy IMHO.

The way the media and internet boobs blow shite out of proportion and critique every damn syllable that comes out of someone's mouth - it's better to just shut the frick up than to deal with the wide spread speculation.

People will jump to conclusions on their own - why the hell give them fuel for the fire?

Plaxico Burress is why Coach Saban has a the policy. He hasn't let freshmen talk to the media since he was at Michigan State. Burress ran his mouth about an opponent and it backfired. The rest is history.

I would have loved it if Chizik hadn't said a damn word - and just trotted Frazier out on the field in the GaDome.

I don't understand what all the fuss is about

keep on a short leash, file him under game manager, make sure you're talented offensive line give him some semblance of protection and run the ball a lot

kid should be fine as long as you don't expect him to be a world beater

So you're actually of the opinion that Mosely or Wallace was in a better position to start?

Going into the spring, I think I held this opinion. Then I stopped following the battle so I'm not sure what is happening. After watching Frazier against Ar-Kansas, I'm not sure he will ever be there throwing the ball. With a bit of a change in offensive philosophy, it isn't indefensible to think Moseley could be the better fit, no?

Also of those making predictions, was there every any doubt that fraizer woudln't be the qb?

Phishneck, I find that funny as well. Doom and Gloom only now that Mochacam was named the starter. Most fans/rivals with any sense would've known he was going to be the starter and based their previous predictions accordingly.

This photo of Kiehl was taken in the future, after the 2012 Iron Bowl.

No, false. The Ar-Kansas game he shat on was indicative of his entire season. Here is what I said about it in the summer:

The series beginning at 6:05 was disasterous. Indecisive on the read option, terrible throw on the pass, confused by the buzz zone. I'm a bit concerned.

Obviously. My points remain that this seems like the Kodi Burns story 2.0

LINK

Kiehl as a true freshmen did not look good passing the ball. Based solely on what I saw, granted there were not that many attempts (thankfully in my view), it would be an upset if he became a proficient passer. He might. I think the other way is most likely.

SEASON CMP ATT YDS CMP% YPA LNG TD INT SACK RAT
2011 5 12 34 41.7 2.83 14 0 2 2 32.1

His rushing stats were also paltry. Consider he was sacked only twice for minus 8 yards. Here is his split.

att yds ypc lng tds
76 327 4.3 22 3

One would expect with his raw tools, running a primarily read run package that was likely put in just for him, with Dyer and OMac to take primary attention from the defense, if he made good decisions his numbers would have been much more impressive. The clip I posted earlier was a sample of what happened most times he was on the field. To throw two picks on 12 attempts when defenses expect you to run when you are in the ball game is not a good sign.

I thought Moseley was going to win that battle, to be honest.

fwiw, Chizik controls that as well. I think Benton has gotten one interview with the media in his entire time at Auburn. The guys have to show they're ready for it. If he doesn't want them talking with the media, they won't.

Moseley's has a bum shoulder - it appears from what I've heard from an Aub friend or two that Frazier has worked his arse off. He's had his head in the playbook since Loefler (sp) got there, he's organized individual practices with his WR's, he's studied game film on his own and with Moseley & Wallace.

I think the competition between Frazier and Moseley was tight, and the coaches wanted to give both every opportunity to win the battle. But, in the end Moseley's shoulder just set him back in production. Doesn't mean that the kid won't see the field ever again - he just won't be the starter.

I keep hearing about how many "starters" Bama lost on defense from last year. But shite, we have a LOT of talented guys that saw playing time that will have SEC experience that will be playing this year on defense.

There's nothing wrong with not being the starter, you can only start 11 at a time anyway.
