Quit using "nuance" when you don't know how to use it in a sentence.

On to the topic: Malzahn is adrift. He hired a DC that will give him a certain amount of cover for the decision ("But he was a DC at LSU! How could we know it wouldn't work?") It's just an odd hire all the way around.

I'm not sure Orgeron is the answer for LSU. The defense will continue to motor along and will probably improve its on-the-field play. I think that Orgeron brings long-term issues that will make it difficult for him to be a long-term success.

By my count he has at most 4 years of service credit, and it takes 10.

LSU needs to keep Steele.

You just stopped Texas Tech.

Come on guys.

We have suffered enough.

ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

There is no way to put a positive spin on this pile of dog shite hire if it happens.

There is a pretty nice melt going on at the Auburn board.

Its an odd story and I don't know what to make of it just yet. I don't think Steele is the arse clown this board makes him out to be but he was certainly an underwhelming hire for LSU last year. It does make sense that LSU might be maneuvering to keep Coach O but Auburn has had more time to conduct a search this year than LSU had following Chiefgate. All in all, I'm skeptical of this story. We'll see how it plays out.

I guess ESPN has a different formula for calculating total defense because they've got LSU ranked 10th overall.

I've been there. I know exactly what you are going through. We had all of these great candidates on the rumor mill and we ended up with Steele. It is like Les intentionally picked the worst coach.

Hiring Steele is the equivalent of rant porn bomb for Jay Jacobs I think.

I don't think I'm going to melt over this, but not really sure yet.

-It's weird
-He wasn't great at LSU this season
-That said, I don't think he's an inept defensive mind or anything
-And we don't have a ton of leverage right now

No, you just have it sorted by total yards instead of yards per game.

LSU probably feels it has to counteroffer. They'd be in a somewhat similar situation to Auburn as far as providing multi year deals to assistants.

Do people really take "barring a last minute snag" as LSU is trying to retain Steele? Love this board. Enjoy Steele, Auburn. I look forward to your annual DC search next year.
