Darth, you have it set on total yards, click average yards per game. Also, LSU played 1 less game because one was cancelled. Cheers bro

We started to melt during the Jax State game.

We liquified when JJ threw that backwards pass against LSU.

We reached the boiling point in the 2nd half of the DSOR.

We had completely converted to steam by the time we got the Bham bowl invite.

Now we're just humidity.

Do people really take "barring a last minute snag" as LSU is trying to retain Steele? Love this board. Enjoy Steele, Auburn. I look forward to your annual DC search next year.

LOL if you think Alleva/Miles are super excited about going down the path Auburn just went down with a potentially outgoing coach.

No but this makes it seem as such is happening.

Sources tell FootballScoop that Auburn’s offer is real; but that LSU is trying to retain him this morning. We also hear that Steele is close to vesting in Alabama’s pension plan….so. Will update… LINK

I think it is much simpler. Based on what is publicly knowable right now, LSU will be hiring a position coach, not a coordinator.

The problem is footballscoop isn't really reputable and his information in that squib is wrong.

Based on their history, who would you rather Steele or O? I will trust coach O. Promote him to DC and hire a LB coach or move Peveto to LB coach and hire a ST coach.

I'd not say Kevin Steele is the second coming of Mike Ditka or anything. But coaching a defense to a top ten finish is not exactly sucking either

A couple of counter points.

1) LSU has top 10 (really probably top 5) defensive talent.

2) There's a residual effect. LSU is 1 year removed from Chavis. The further away they get from him, the more they will regress. Let's look at Clemson in terms of total defense rank when Steele was DC and after he left.

2009 - 13th
2010 - 18th
2011 - 100th - Fired
2012 - 74th
2013 - 29th
2014 - 1st

If Gus hires him as AU's DC, they will be in a coaching search this time next season.

Thats fine, and what I'd expect. But it's also not something LSU was planning on doing. I'm not touting this hire if it happens, but in reality I think this will be a "meh" situation for both sides.

I have a lot of mixed emotions on this baws. While he isn't elite by any means, I wish someone would come and steal ball, Cameron, and peveto from us. Steele is okay but not one of my biggest concerns

No, you just have it sorted by total yards instead of yards per game.

OK. I see what's going on with their site. When you click on the "total" tab under the FBS (I-A) Team Total Defense Statistics - 2015 stats it ranks LSU 10th. The way it reads it looks like LSU is tenth overall. When you click on the individual columns it sorts them by that particular stat. For example LSU is 25th in YDS/G, 14th in rushing overall and 24th in rusing TDS/G, 31st in overall points and 44th in points per game.

It's a draw honestly. I'd rather have O, just because I think there is more upside if it turns out he can manage a D. But it's sort of a steady mediocre hand vs. wild card sort of thing.

For us, the steady, probably won't do too much damage candidate may be the best Gus can hope for right now. Not that we were going to hire O, but someone like that probably isn't attractive to a coach who needs to regain his standing in the next 11 months.

Yep. Lsu will be devastated by losing the only coordinator worse than its disastrous co-defensive coordinators in 2008. How will LSU ever recover?

You're not bright, and I get that, but that isn't what I said.

It takes about 5 minutes to peruse your board and see a multi page thread of people echoing my sentiments, which is that Steele probably wasn't the biggest problem for LSU, they're not heartbroken to see him leave, but not exhilarated either.
