t would take another 4-5 years for Jimbo to amass the same level of desired talent at LSU.

Nebraska's losses have been, for the most part, close losses... but they haven't come against a murderer's row of opponents.
They haven't? Let's see:
Michigan - 32-29
@Michigan St - 23-20 OT
Ohio St - 26-17
@Oklahoma - 23-16
Purdue - 28-23
Four of those are top-10 teams and Purdue will be in the top-20 when the rankings come out tonight.
I'm not going to try and convince anyone 3-7 is good, but if you've watched this team you can tell they have improved and are desperately in need of a QB. Their defense is pretty solid.

Except for the hundreds of posters who posted with glee in a thread on tiger droppings that claimed the Jimbo hire was imminent. After learning that OP was an Aggie troll, that thread had been deleted.

Jimbo has a 95 million dollar buy out, combine that with say a 8 Million dollar salary per year for ten years, that is 175 million dollars or 17.5 million per year for that ten years.
It ain't gonna happen...

LSU sees what Jimbo is about to do in College Station and it terrifies them.

quote:Actually Fisher has no buyout. However, somebody has to pay more than 100M to pry him away, and they have to make the same commitment to football that A&M is making. On the schedule in just the next few years for the coach are improvements to Bright complex, an athletic center, AR/VR, and a new indoor practice field that is bricked and permanent as opposed to a bubble type of structure. By this time next year there will be a renovated park next to the stadium to improve all the asthetics and game day experience further.

I've seen the plans, and they are hugely impressive. And given the growth of the University, the stadium is going to be sold out for a long time. There is a reason we are recruiting so well

Very seriously for you Aggies, what are you willing to pay Jimbo per year to stay? Dude is making $9,000,000! Saban makes $9.7
You about to pay Jimbo like $12,000,000 a year to keep him?

It’s highly doubtful anyone here can answer that.
But my guess would be, “whatever it takes.”
I’d never be so audacious as to say a coach wouldn’t leave Texas A&M for another university.
But it wouldn’t be for monetary reasons.

Probably. We have more money than sense ...

It’s pretty overwhelming agreement by the fans at least that a Jimbo hire would be disappointing/meh.
Jimbo is a smokescreen IMO…Woody knows the fans wouldn’t like that hire.
He would have been a good hire in 2015, but not in 2021. Jimbo is a solid coach for sure, but Woody knows he’s not the coach to get another national title for LSU.
Jimbo is the Mike Bianco of this search.

Fisher is already the king of Texas, and supplements from other states.
So would still say Saban >>> Jimbo, but the gap between Texas and Texas A&M is about 5x the gap between Alabama and Auburn.
So yeah, Fisher is already the king of Texas.

But interestingly, only from one fanbase -- the same fanbase that keeps repeating over and over that he's coming...

People fundamentally misunderstand Jimbo. We won't need to give him another raise because of the LSU stuff. We just gave him one. Jimbo knows that we'll give him another one if the market changes push his salary below that of the other top coaches. He knows we're willing to invest what it takes to win. THAT is what he wants.

Bingo.
If he wants to leave, he’s welcome to do so.
No one is irreplaceable.

He’s the last LSU fans want list.
Personally I’d be thrilled to death of the Aggie fans are right

That list was updated on 10/4.
On campus vs able to play are two different things. Obviously Injuries happen, so I wouldn't consider those, but if you just toss one person on that list who's listed as "there" but really isn't
John Emery Jr.
He's out for a totally avoidable thing. Academics. And without him the LSU and A&M classes are pretty much identical. Sure he may be back next year, but the rolling 5 year composition will also be different then.
