If you don't think kids are taking notice of how these other athletes are getting immediate transfers I got news for you....Black athletes in the future if they want out can now play the race card and likely won't be challenged and they can reference this case because literally the only thing that happened was a kid made a comment and got kicked out of school. He said the N word - which while the word used in it's context was quite degrading - is just a fricking comment. Words literally hurt no one. They don't fricking harm anything. Bullets harm, knives harm.....You don't get fricking PTSD from some idiot making a comment.

But the kid was another member of the athletic department.

Y'all really don't see the difference between that and some random fan screaming racist shite?

The reason the NCAA entertained this claim was because it was a baseball player, so it led a possibility of there being unease for him in the athletic department.

You do realize the large majority of the UGA football team is black? Pretty sure those guys could handle a POS baseball player. In no way did he feel threatened. He wanted out and someone advised him this was his best bet to possibly play right away.

Not once did I say it never happened. This is still an example of using the racism card though weather it happened or not.

True.

But that one guy gave him the leverage to play this hand.

Are you lost? Last time I checked there was no Miami board on SEC Rant. There is no Clemson board either.

I realize half of y'all are laughing hard at Georgia right now, but this is really actually bad for the sport, as for me, this signifies College Football Free Agency is well on its way. And it will not go well.

I said the same thing when this first came up. This is not good for anyone. NCAA may as well remove all rules regarding transfers at this point. If it's this easy to exploit a loop hole, anyone could do the same and be granted a waiver. So there's really no point in still having a rule in place requiring players to sit out a year. So, I guess coaches will have to start evaluating even more how content these players are in not starting right away when they're recruiting them.

Telling them to go be with their own kind? Seems like UGA fans just can’t help themselves

The NCAA should investigate Ohio States contact with Fields prior to him entering the portal....Oklahomas as well. Both teams were being rumored as his potential schools well before his name was put in the portal.

I’ll be contrarian and say this is a good thing for the student athlete.

These are amateur athletes and they should have more ability to compete where and when they want. A reasonable compromise would be to allow 1 transfer without penalty in the first 1-2 years of their eligibility (later then that would affect their ability to graduate on time) and convince the NFLPA to ditch the age rule and allow those who wish to try their luck as an NFL player at 18-19 yo.

No, the kid was a student who played sports. He was not a member of the athletic department. He was a kid who made a dumb, offensive comment in the stands at a football game, a comment that Fields never heard. He was turned in by another student who heard him, admitted to making the comment, and was dismissed from school. The athletic department had nothing to do with what the kid said, didn't endorse what he said, and swiftly punished the kid for what he said.

And every 5 star that Bama recruits that doesn't get enough playing time will be C-YA. You will have to rerecruit half your damn team every year.

I can respect that opinion. I don't agree with it personally, but there's nothing wrong with thinking players should be able to transfer without penalty. What I don't like is the NCAA having a rule and then letting players exploit it. Either enforce the rules you have or don't have them at all.
