Are you guys really arguing that there's no advantage in peforming well playing big time football against the best competition?

That's just absurd.

At QB, I think the advantage is minimal. Scouts and coaches drool over a QB in a mid tier school like Wake who has to play in a P5 conference against good competition without the supporting cast his opponents have. They love a QB who elevates his team rather than wondering if the team is what elevated him.

most positions, I agree the supporting cast can boost your draft stock. But at QB, it seems to often be a negative. How often did we hear about scouts who wondered what Tua would be without his supporting cast? Matt Ryan didn't get drafted #3 out of Boston College due to his supporting cast.

It really depends. Burrow and Tua still got drafted very high. Their supporting cast presented questions, but not enough to matter.

As for this specific decision to transfer.....

The current acc is trash, and Wake forest has the lowest talent level in the acc. Newman’s body took a beating at wake. His nfl stock took a beating after his Wr’s got hurt. That’s just not fun or conducive to college or nfl success.

Stay at wake or Step into the sec as a potential missing piece to a championship contender? That is a no brainer.

The Packers didn't think so either. I thought Jordan Love played decent for stretches against a much more talented team in the humidity at LSU, but his receivers were awful and then he just sort of mailed it in

To elevate them to a ranking in midseason did say A lot about Newman.

I agree that the most important QB trait for the NFL is a player who can create offense. And that isnt something seen from Jake Fromm types.

Matt Ryan, despite mixed results, was constantly being forced to create success and create better opportunities while under duress.

A better OL, a better run game, and better wide receivers often prevent those game reps in college.

That said, the SEC offers big time matchups. Seeing Burrow or Tua create offense with a UGA defensive gameplan and talent bearing down on them is what the NFL looks for. It is the type of audition that the NFL likes. But those same highlight plays could come more often from a lesser power 5 who is playing up in competition more often.

Newman scored 17 touchdowns in the 5 games prior to them being ranked. Not too bad (3.4 per game).

14 of 17 were against Elon, Utah State, Rice, and BC.

Says a lot!

And he wasn’t the only go to wr that got hurt. Wake didn’t have the depth to handle any injuries.

didn't he just come off a redshirt from a knee injury. i don't think the NCAA would make the kid sit out 2 years just because and help preserve his remaining eligibility.

The NCAA returned the favor for Justin Fields, only difference is Fields is a likely Top15 draft pick and Daniels is lucky if he's drafted at all

Stick to masturbating to Hentai and leave the NFL player analysis to the experts, nerd.

Sorry Dawg — You got another Brittle Tuna in Daniels

These West Coast QBs are highly overrated and can’t hold up to Big Baw FB in the SEC!

Jamie Newman is the real deal and you need to ride that poney to the East Title.

If Kirby is SMART (pun intended) he lets Daniels in to do mop up only and keep Newman healthy & he doesn’t PULL A TUNA and get Jamie Newman injured like that f-tard Saban Who kept Tuna in vs MSU in a rout —

What was f-tard Saban’s excuse — Anyone remember that mumbling stuttering sack of schitt after the game — Something Tuna wanted to practice — Hope that old Bastid lives to be 80 and keeps coaching like his idol Bowden — I’ll enjoy his skullphukkings

Because Newman has only one year of eligibility and Daniels has three

Lingard got a waiver May 29 and is immediately eligible.

The only high profile transfer that I know of without a decision yet is Cade Mays, which I don't understand at all. He transferred well before Daniels and doesn't have an answer from the NCAA.

I fully expect Mays to get a waiver as well; I don't think the NCAA will turn anyone down under the current circumstances.

That makes sense, did not realize that Newman was a grad transfer.
