So, why even bring Nico back for the spring? Heupel can't be that stupid to think things would improve. I'm calling lies on this. Things are looking like a move to save face for Tennessee.

The problem you guys have is your team has never really felt the pain of other teams cheating until now.
And now you are reacting as if the world is ending. Where were you when your teams were buying players for decades while the majority of schools did not? I’m in south Georgia and players from the 80’s, 90,s and 00’s openly talk as do the high school coaches about what they got from Auburn, Bama, UGA, FSU, etc. And you guys loved it because you could beat your chest about winning. UGA beating GT the past 40 years is no different than professional wrestling because the game was rigged. And most of those guys now regret it because the bag money has long been spent, the cars they got are now gone, and even if they got a degree it’s half worthless.
Rules will never be followed because teams want to get the best players to win and they start in them in 6th grade .
I love NIL and the portal because it puts every school in the same situation for the first time ever. Players wanting to sit out or transfer is the new paradigm for coaches just like utilizing the bagman was at one point decades ago. The coaches who adapt will win. Saban was a king at the bagman system but decided he didn’t want to learn the new system. The next generation of coaches will learn to adapt or lose.
This is a prime example of people who will just believe whatever they want because it makes them feel better, regardless of the actual reality.
Since the NIL started, the only team that has won a national championship and isn't a team that is considered a blue blood is Georgia. Michigan, blue blood. Ohio St, blue blood. Notre Dame that they played in the championship - blue blood.
Recruiting rankings, same story. Where is the small schools getting all this new talent? They don't exist. Did LSU lose out on their 5 star QB to a small school? No, they lost it to Michigan, a blue blood.
And what actually happens at the smaller schools? Well they develop a guy for 3 or so years, and then he transfers out for his final years. While at the top schools, the majority of kids who transfer are those at the lower end of the depth chart.
The rich are getting richer and your stupid arse tries to spin it as if it's good for smaller teams.
What IS actually happening is that kids are being paid and they no longer have the drive they use to have. Because while you tell yourself everyone is cheating hard as your coping mechanism, the reality is they were actually working towards getting paid in the NFL. Now they just want that big money now, they don't put in the work like they should etc.
Talent is still going to the same places, the amount of ELITE players is in decline.
Hell, the only reason small schools are even making it into the playoffs is because they DEI'd it and extended it out so far. Not because they are actually doing anything.
In short, you're a fricking idiot who doesn't at all understand the sport. Probably because you just sit around making excuses for shite.

He talks about Georgia Tech getting its first five star ever, due to NIL and they can pay now.
No mention of how they landed Calvin Johnson though.

Because, regardless of the facts, it would have looked terrible to bring in another QB to replace the highly talented freshman that just led you to the CFB. We would have looked like a bunch of idiots and would have been burned for it by the media.

You’re not wrong about that part.

This is what's going to kill CFB.

Pate was saying this back during the playoffs but didn't name teams. I got the feeling though it was both Georgia and Tennessee.
Sadly, that felt like Carson Beck's M.O the whole season, and would speak volumes about his performance.

When rival fan bases take up Tennessee’s cause, college football has sunk to a new low.

The company I work for has a very generous quarterly bonus program with goals that are relatively easy to meet. HOWEVER, 15% of the earned bonus is withheld and paid in the last quarter of the year, with the last quarter's holdback falling into the next year. The kicker is YOU HAVE TO BE EMPLOYED AT THE TIME THE HOLDBACK MONEY IS TO BE PAID.
Do the same with these prima donnas. If they are earning an average of $10k per game, withhold 20% of each paycheck. At the end of a 12 game season they are due $24k. If they holdout of any playoff or bowl games, without a legitimately diagnosed injury, they get none of the holdback money. Gotta have an incentive for them to play to earn the money.

man frick these players
here is the deal.....there are tens of thousands of fans of schools in the SEC just like me.....we make a very good living and would be considered higher class but on the low end......well we are not going to continue to donate to make 18-19 year olds multi millionaires so that they can make more than us and live a better lives.....all just to win games.
also tons of fans who have passed down season tickets for generations....they too are going to eventually stop because they cant afford it or it just is no longer fun because its all.....more money, more money, more money and they hate it
bottom line is the schools in the SEC and Big 10 routinely put 40-50k in the stands back when it was really student athletes. go back to that and let the others go start their own pay for play league.

If true, the schools should’ve let them sit out, and told every reporter why….. because players see it as a position of leverage but it’s only leverage if you allow it.
Regardless of who, you’d have to be firm and unwavering… cut the player from all team activities, including travel if a player ops out for more money during the season. Players would then have NFL teams asking a lot of questions come draft time.
Coaches may have left for bigger schools or more money but (I could be wrong) when has a coach sat out because they aren’t getting an extension?

Who is writing these NIL contracts? And why are they not protecting themselves?
Why not have verbiage in there that a player’s NIL value is directly tied to him being an active member of X team and playing in all games he is deemed physically able to. If they transfer after a year or opt out of a game/s they are subject to a financial penalty up to the total value of the NIL.
These people are literally paying 18 year olds to simply sign with a team. Many are getting seven figures. No wonder so many of them are jumping ship every year and going to the highest bidder.

And this is why the national level recruiting is a vulnerability. A kid from California doesn't give two fricks if he's threatening to hold out before the Iron Bowl, Egg Bowl, Clean Old Fashioned Hate, or the Palmetto Bowl.
Do you think kids from Prichard or Ensley, Alabama who go to Auburn or Alabama are going to base their decisions on team loyalty or because their uncle agent says they can get them an extra $1 million if they hold out? This is all about money now.

LOL...couldn't happen to a more deserving team. Remember, you Vols were a major force in creating this mess with your NCAA lawsuit you VOLS were on here crowing about. Well now it bit you and I for one am loving it. The Vols...they just aren't very good.

Because the gamble is that the school calls his bluff, and now the uncle/agent has to answer why his client/nephew sat out the Iron Bowl back in the hood. It would make for a great episode of The First 48.

Because that's pay for play, which is technically still an NCAA violation.
It also starts crossing the lines of defining an athlete as an employee of said institution.
