16 is fine and a better format. Home playoff games are an amazing experience for the student body, fans, city etc of the host team and a cool road experience for road team. This is what CFB is about. Byes to bowl games where you must have thousands of dollars to attend or be a corporate stooge that is given tickets is bullshite.

I think the current playoff robs the fan's of the best teams and incredible way to finish the season.

It’s a bad idea because UT already beat bama and ole miss already beat USC

Or should I say it’s a bad idea with those teams playing

I actually like the idea but got to figure out some way to make regular season still matter

And overall I think playoff is fine with some tweaking

I think strength of schedule has to be weighed out more

SEC with "3-4 guaranteed spots" = the excuse to move the format to 16 teams.

The fact that conference champions in weak conferences get a auto-bid is absurd and is an affront to selecting the best teams.

I actually like the auto bid (hate me if you will) but it's an accomplishment to win your conference, even if it's weaker. If a team (say Alabama) doesn't like it, then they are free to move to one of the weaker conferences and be guaranteed to make playoffs every year.

How is that a bad idea?

the 3rd and 4th SEC teams would beat most of the field yet have to play extra games to get in just because? screw that.

To have 10-2 SEC squad play a 9-3 and 2 other 9-3 teams play as play in games? But let another 10-2 avoid that?

It’s poorly thought out at best.

If you want a play in game then let the 9-3 teams figure it out.

The playoffs are fine. They have got to fix NIL and the transfer portal.

Wouldn't it be:

#3 UT vs #6 Carolina
#4 Bama vs #5 Ole Miss

It doesn't get anymore radical than the targeting rule, NIL and the transfer portal. How many playoff games is a silly argument.

There are 134 FBS division 1 football. Just make a 134 team playoff and everyone is happy

It's an accomplishment to win the Division II national championship, too, but do any of us for one moment think they could go toe to toe with whoever wins the FBS national championship? I think not.

Not all conferences are equal.

I used to like Josh Pate. It seems like his content is getting worse and worse. It seems like he is just trying to get clicks instead of putting out good content.

Fine baum went the same direction a few years ago

This is a fantastic idea, but it'll never happen. The decision makers don't want teams to control their own destinies, they want to control who gets in and who doesn't for the sake of being "fair". By "fair", I mean to the teams from weak conferences who play no one.

Having a committee is a fricking joke. It's obvious there are methods available that will determine playoff teams without a committee, such as the one presented by Josh Pate.

He isn’t content at all. All you have to do is watch his show and he will tell you that he hates this. However, he sees the writing on the walls and he knows where everything is headed. People tell him what they’re thinking.

Personally I think that the playoff should be 8 teams. Twelve teams is too flukey and you start flirting with 9-3 teams getting in, and no 9-3 team should ever be in the playoff.

So great point, however the teams that win a p4 conference are much better than a Div II team. That is a far exaggeration to make a claim. Yes I agree some conferences are "tougher" than others. However it still doesn't diminish the fact they won a p4 conference and should get an auto bid. If they didn't you would be complaining about playing the same teams 2 or 3 times a season
