So seems like the gap is closing, not getting larger.

The biggest difference in this game versus the others against Mullen/Grantham was that Grantham contained the UGA run game.

He did it at the expense of his secondary. Jake Fromm passed for 66% completion. 279 yards. 9.3 yards per attempt. And 2 TDs with no picks. Florida didnt sack Fromm 1 time.

Outside of that, Georgia contained Trask and the UF run game like normal. That changed when UGA went prevent but Mullen opted to take the underneath stuff and help Kirby by draining the clock.

Oh I know I've rewatched it multiple times. The plan was let Fromm beat us, and he did.

The biggest issue was we couldn't run a lot last year. For some reason we could throw on Auburn and LSU but Georgia it's like Mullen didn't trust Trask till late in the game to do anything. The assumption is our line improves through my depth and experience, which will help a lot. We shall see. We def need to force turnovers this year though to help get a short field on your defense.

Mullen is a proven in-game coach. He has won many games he shouldn’t have won on paper. Kirby is kind of hit or miss , right? He shite the bed two years in a row against LSU for instance . So I’m not sure why this surprises you .

That was by design of the defense. When the 4th quarter came, our only goal was to not give up the big play. It wasn't easy for Mullen. It took a lot of plays to move the ball even with the underneath stuff available.

That is the formula. The young guys have to grow up. Forgive me if I do get excited about our 2018 and 2019 classes getting a chance to shine in 2020.

Our offense will be the biggest questionmark for our defense in 2020.
That is where Florida has an opportunity to make it a game.

My hope... is that we have more of a vertical threat (newman is very efficient downfield unlike fromm). That is the keystone that usually breaks Granthams run defense.

For as good as our defense was in 2019, we were average in getting sacks and forcing turnovers. That could come back to bite us if we dont improve there.

Not sure he shite the bed last year just not healthy enough on O to do much of anything. 2018 was a class A bed wetting though.

You care to list them?
He's been a head coach for 13 seasons already.
I bet it is a huge list.

Any Miss St fans want to help out?

Yea it was a long game. Mullen actually didn't call a terrible game outside of a few "wtf moments"

We only had six drives all game, scored on half, and had that one what in the frick was this drive that failed on fourth and short. The big issue was we got zero yards on the ground basically and very few explosive plays.

As for us stopping down the field, we shall see who is playing. Elam is a stud we can leave in single coverage most of the day. Not sure about the other outside corner though. If Dean is playing there you can literally just throw it up, he can not cover for shite

It should be a good game. I'm not predicting UF beating Georgia yet, because I have no clue what Georgia will actually be so it would just be a biased prediction. I do expect us to be very good though. I just love our schedule. Just a perfect schedule to make a run.

I know it is.

Why do I know so much more than you?
Why was I trying to be nice about it?

If that scares you...

i'll never understand why recruits want to go to UGA. it's not like they've been a powerhouse lately like the likes of Bama or Clemson or FLA or LSU or OSU.

sure, a sugar bowl here / an SEC championship there. nothing special really. they're the auburn of the east.

Calling a 4th quarter that makes it impossible to win is pretty terrible.
I understand that Mullen likes to play the 7 points card. But if he was my coach, I'd be pissed. A 13 year veteran coach should know better.

Agreed. Good chat. Cheers.

Kirby has been more competitive with Saban than Mullen has with Kirby. Can you even say Mullen has been competitive at all?

Where is the evidence that Mullen can compete with Kirby?

This years recruits weren’t even in 1st grade the last time UF won the SEC. They’ve been less of a powerhouse than UGA over that time and neither belong with the other teams you named.

Well our last 2 slap dick coaches beat Kirby so I am not sure that beating Kirby is really the end all be all as far as goals are concerned for UF. Neither should beating Florida be such a major accomplishment for you knuckleheads as we have no chance to win according to most Georgia fans.

But here we are in yet another Florida-Georgia thread.

Nobody said you have 'no chance', but we both know in a few months you'll probably lose your fourth in a row. There's been nothing that should lead us to think otherwise.

UF we know what we get. UF will have a very good defense, and a very good offense. Neither may be elite, but it's safe to assume both will be very, very good

Very fair take here - I think UGA has way more upside than UF this year, but the floor might be a little lower. If UGA can make things click on offense they will be seriously dangerous at a national level. If not, they could lose a couple of games along the way.

I think it will be hard to tell though - because I think the best we get this year is divisional games only - and that’s if we are lucky.

Has Florida been a powerhouse lately? I missed that.

It might have something to do with Athens being consistently ranked as a top 10 college town while Gainesville is considered a stain in the middle of the state of Florida.

Did you even read the OP?

How on earth anyone could think Florida is remotely good enough to compete with us is irrational beyond all reason.

You are obviously a liberal if you try and spin that.
