What it sounds like to me. That's a hell of a write-up that could hurt a kids future whether it's football or not. Not only that, they induce that a suspension should occur as a result of the incident without any communication with the coaches. An overly excitable media looking to take a story to its maximum possible end to create a desired effect. If there's a ripple lets add some wind and make a wave.

This guy gets it

And the AJC has been doing it for years. Shoddiest "major newspaper" in the country. I wish it would just die already and stop tarnishing the reputations of Furman Bisher and Lewis Grizzard.

If he was arrested or failed a piss test. He was and has not done either.

ETA: AJC wrote a misleading headline. None of the coaches or AD have commented. AJC chalks it up to "they're in Destin" despite the fact that this "incident" happened two weeks ago (May 15th)

Ty Smith (JHC's roommate) has been advised by Richt to transfer to a JUCO to get his mind right. JHC, meanwhile, was advised by police not to say anything because they had nothing on him but he still came clean and said he and Ty had smoked a blunt.

No possession + Honesty = Internal punishment
Why run one player out of town, but not the other. Better player?

Who, weeks before, filed a false report about his textbooks being stolen when he had them in his room. Kid needs to step away and get his head right.

what has he done wrong?

Said he smoked a blunt after he was told by the cops that they had nothing to charge them with. He was just being honest. Cops still didn't arrest him.

Unless Richt had him piss tested ASAP, there is nothing to suggest he will for certain be suspended other than the AJC's hopes and prayers.

After questioning, the players admitted they had “smoked a blunt,” which is slang for a using a cigar to smoke marijuana, police said.

Per Wiki
quote:

A blunt is a cigar which is wider than a cigarillo and not quite as wide as a Corona. These cigars typically consist of two main parts; the inner leaf, which is similar to a cigarette rolling paper, except it is made of tobacco, and a thicker outer leaf which is rolled around the inner leaf in a spiral. In most commercially available blunts, the "leaves" are not actual tobacco leaves but rather paper made from tobacco pulp.

Now he should quit the tobacco to improve his lungs for the season but I see nothing about marijuana.

I'll agree with you other than Furman Bisher having any reputation worth tarnishing. He is old and wrote for a long time, I'll give him that. But he was a part of the completely fabricated story about Wally Butts and Bear Bryant colluding to fix a game. That whole mess sunk the Saturday Evening Post (they had to pay out 3 million in damages, during the 60's, for making the story up).

Furman Bisher sucks arse.

So he admits to smoking pot to police and is not drug tested. seems legit

This situation seems to refute some of yalls claims about UGA and the campus police, does it not?

Dude, don't be stupid. They smoked a joint in their fricking dorm. Everyone smelled it and they admitted to doing it. The 10% suspension is NOT for being arrested or failing a piss test. It's for smoking pot in the dorm which he admitted doing.

He admitted to smoking "a blunt." Didn't say whether it was tobacco or marijuana

If anything, it shows how innocent he is. If the gatdamn UGAPD can't see fit to haul your arse to jail, then you're clean, son.

Uh, yeah it is. How else will they prove he smoked marijuana?

I know you can't be that fricking stupid. If he smoked a "swisher sweet", do you not think he would have said that? Why not just admit to what they say they did? Jesus Christ, they smoked a fricking joint.
