LSU started the opt-out culture. This is pretty much indisputable

The Dallas Turner hit changed his mind.

Amazing how many grown "men" come on here just to troll and attack people; What losers you must be.

There is no way that a head coach should let a Heisman winning senior onto the field in a meaningless bowl game.

Because we see it in the NFL, and it will be the same.

Again, there's a HUGE difference in being a top 4 seed and a 9-12 seed, also a 5-8 seed. Dropping a level of seeding can be pretty detrimental, I doubt you see players skipping CCGs. the NFL plays 17 games, college plays 12-13.

A loss in a CCG for an undefeated team could easily drop you from a top 4 seed which means no bye.

College is setup differently from NFL

I like to give you shite every now and then, but kudos to you for recognizing what's in play here. I owe you a beer for bringing logic and a sound argument to an otherwise troll thread.

I am this thread's OP and I am not trying to troll LSU fans. I would have been disgusted with Bryce Young had he opted out of the Sugar Bowl last year, just as I was with Trevon Diggs and Terrell Lewis when they opted out of the Citrus Bowl against Michigan in 2019-20.

I believe I have commented on that. This news about Daniels just broke an hour ago.

You idiots telling me you would advise your son in the same situation to go put it all on the line for a meaningless bowl game with 1st round money on the line?

GTFO

How many college players that were projected to be high draft picks have played in their bowl game and an injury caused their stock to plummet? I'm sure there have been a few over the years, but I can't really think of any. Jameson Williams tore his ACL in the NC game and still got drafted 12 overall. Tua broke his hip the 3rd to last game of the season and still got picked 5th overall.

If these players that are opting out are so scared of getting hurt, might as well not even get into a vehicle, or any other day-to-day activity that could possibly result in injury.

and I'm not dogging Daniels, he didn't start this trend, and I am sure he has people in his ear telling him not to play, I'm just saying, the trend sucks.

The first one I recall was Christian McCaffrey. Fournette not long after. Was clearly the right decision for both of them.

As fans sure, but I get it, this is the Reliaquest bowl, he had an helluva season and we have a very capable backup in Nussmeier. He has nothing to gain by playing in this game and I cant really blame him. Again as a fan I'd actually rather see the younger players who are coming back next year in a game like this. It's really a completely meaningless game overall so might as well play some guys who havent got to play as much this season to prepare for next season.

There was at least one mock draft that had him going as the 4th QB off the board prior to that game.

An outlier as just about everyone else had him going in the Top 5, with most putting him at #2 overall.

Is it meaningless to those seniors who likely will never play another down of football after this game? Not everyone advances to the NFL. For a lot of them, this is it.

There have been several. I personally know a Florida State alum who was projected as a first-round pick, got hurt in the Sugar Bowl, and was never able to get on the field in the NFL. That game cost him millions.

I'm not saying I'm telling guys who are leaving they cant play in it, I'm saying it doesnt bother me if they decide to not play in it. As a fan I'd rather watch the guys returning, personally, in a game like this. I have no issue though whether they play or not, up to them.

He doesn't know shite to anyone. And I'm sure his brothers knew this before now and are content with his decision. If everyone including the coaches are ok with it then it doesn't matter what we think about it.

Who was it?

They've appeared in two Sugar Bowls this century and one of those was for a national championship.

There's a lot of truth to this and I believe its coming as well. They have destroyed college football. These players dont care about OU (insert others), National Chamionships, or really team mates, they care about money, pretty clear thats the case. Sure, there are some really good players that are still loyal and will play, but its headed in a really negative direction in a hurry!

This is such a ridiculously dumb comment.

Comparing a major college football game to day to day activity is absurd.

If your son just won the Heisman and was about to become a multi millionaire as a 1st round draft pick. Would you tell him to play in a meaningless bowl game against an un-ranked team?
