He has 49 yards on the season. Little to no impact for OSU

Between OSU player and the Michgan TE who I assume will transfer after the playoffs, it's laughable at this point.

opted out of the playoff?

This is something the Committee is going to need to address.

I personally think Alabama would have given them a better game, and now with one of their best players out electively, does that affect the Committee's decision?

Of course it does

ETA- My point is more for players that have contributed, obviously not one that was injured and didn't significantly play

it's an enormous impact, considering how much more lethal they'd be to add him to their current WR group.

They aren't losing anything, but they could have potentially added a devastating game changer that they now longer will.

Why announce anything though? Just be with your team.

Probably signaling he's about to sign w/ an agent and get an advance.

Just as people predicted. Just wait until we go to 12 teams, you're going to see a lot of top draft picks sitting.

Just a little context since the OP didn't deem it appropriate to add to his click bait topic.

"I want to be out there competing with my brothers more than anything," Smith-Njigba told ESPN on Monday. "The decision to turn pro was made after I was unable to come back on multiple occasions during the season and the doctors determined I would be unable to participate in the playoffs."

Is this the first time a college player has opted out of the playoff?
He isn't medically cleared to play.

But I heard that for the first time, the entire Alabama team is opting out of the playoffs. Oh, wait...

Quality joke, if not for 2019. Can't believe an LSU fan forgot about 2019!

Exactly! The 12 team playoff is going to as mush of a joke as the rest of the bowls.

This news has been click bait, he wasn't going to be cleared to play. The doctors have shut him down. His chance of re-injury is too high. I mean I'm no fan of tOSU, but sh**ing on this player for this is not a fair take.

There's a lot of team activities (month and a half's worth if they beat UGA) that he'd be required to attend if he were still on the roster. Instead, he is focusing on rehab. I get it. He wasn't playing either way.
It's this... people should read the actual quotes in the articles before jumping on the guy. This is a formality so he isn't doing all of the travel, film, etc. and instead is focusing on rehab.

Aggies don’t have to worry about their players opting out of bowl games
