That is the number (6M) Bama can afford to pay a coach of Sabans Caliber.... and UA won't balk at that amount.

Alabama can't pay more than the cowboys, just hope it's not about money for Saban.

Yes...he isn't in it for the money. I used to think it was the money but it is not with him. It is about the legacy. He is too old to develope a legacy in the NFL, hell, the way the NFL works now, Bellichick might be the last guy to ever have a legacy like Landry or Shula.

He'd turn it down... if he were the head coach at Alabama and kicking arse...

While a litle more money to coach in the NFL might help, Saban's decision will be based on one thing...does he want to prove he can be succesful in the NFL? If he does, he goes when the right opportunity comes along (maybe Dallas). If not, he retires at Bama.

Saban would go back to Kent State before he'd go back to the NFL.

Bama can't beat the Cowboys if it comes down to money.

This. I think it gets to him sooner or later. i imagine he has a hard time thinking he is a coaching failure at the highest level while his buddy Bill is still considered the best.

Football revenue jumped 16% in Saban's first two years — from nearly $56 million before he arrived to almost $65 million in 2008 — and the sport turned a $38.2 million profit in 2008. Gaston conservatively projects a $39 million profit for 2009 and, with the expanded stadium and ticket demand, says he expects the climb to continue. The school's overall athletic profits went from $10.5 million in 2006-07 to a little more than $22 million a year ago.

I don't see why we couldn't pay him more than 6 really.

And that's just football profits. Enrollment has skyrocketed in the last couple of years.

But they sure as hell can when it comes to power and control.

Jerry Jones can't pay Saban enough money to give up the power and control he has now.

Saban is a winner and I doubt he likes loosing. That being said....I'm sure he wants to prove to people he can indeed coach in the NFL.

Jones has publicly berated himself a bit lately. Maybe he would be willing to give up some control?
