It's already obvious what we have to look forward to out of Saban and ESPN

"I retired because people can now pay players."

Translation: "My cheating arse lost my advantage. That damn bunch out there at aTm outbid me, and Mark Emmert couldn't get them for me."

We listened to his bitch arse whine, "we need a new rule" about everything from the hurry-up offense on down. Now we get to listen to his crying over the playing field getting leveled.

Nick Saban. His cheating ruined college football, not NIL.

That's a whole lotta pent-up Saban hate for one person, is it not?

He's gone now. Time to move on. The playing field is even and level these days, amirite?

That's a lot of butthurt over another man's opinion on an Internet message board.

Perhaps a knitting circle would be more to your liking, old timer.

no he's not.

He's going to be whining nonstop on our screens 24/7. Maybe you should tell HIM to move on, instead of fans who don't want to hear his cheating crybaby nonsense.

I long for the days of Frank Broyles and Keith Jackson calling the big game on Saturdays.

They gone.

Fixed that for you

For the record, I think it’s fine for players to chase bags in college. I don’t like it, but I respect their right to do so

I probably wouldn’t want to coach in the current environment either and if I had millions upon millions, successful side businesses, and a legacy that’s second to none…I’d consider pursuing other interests too

$o do all y’all saying this actually believe it? Like the NCAA gave Saban a free pass to pay guys. Or is it just he was so good at cheating that he couldn’t be caught, and all other programs were too stupid or scared or pure as the driven snow to participate? It’s especially funny coming from LSU fans since Saban did coach rep there and all. Did he get the free pass later or were the admins at LSU just too dumb to keep a good thing going?

It’s always been pay to play, the problem now is that players are allowed to transfers without sitting out, if that was still the rule Saban would still be coaching…

Saban has repeatedly said, including yesterday, that he supports the players being able to use their name, image and likeness to make money. That’s what the spirit of NIL is, but that’s not how it is being used.

Are you telling me that you don’t think something is needed to get NIL under control? Are you just disagreeing because Saban said it?

I’d still say the playing field isn’t even. Some schools can afford to throw around big money and buy players and others can’t.

This is exactly what they think. A guy was on some college sports talk thing, maybe Crain, and he said this line is the best among college football fans. That ONLY Bama was buying players. Every single school competing has always bought players, Bama included but so has LSU, UGA, Florida, Auburn, Mich, tOSU, on and on. What this is is a coping mechanism. It helps them sleep at night thinking oh, MY program was always above board but Bama wasn't so that's why they dominate us. Yea, it's definitely fantasy land type thinking. Just as a side bar, I've always heard LSU buys baseball players big time so I can rest easy knowing that's why Bama can't beat them.
And if you don't think NIL and the transfer portal doesn't need some guidelines then you are truly in denial.

The NCAA was finally using their existing rules to start to take control of paying for players.

Tennessee just sued them to get rid of that rule. They've basically won.

The NCAA can't regulate pay for play using NIL according to the courts. No organization that replaces the NCAA will be able to either. The only ones who possibly could is congress, and even then the courts may tell them it's not allowed.

You do realize that Saban was still stacking 4 and 5 star talent after NIL and the portal took hold, and dominated the SEC up until he retired, right?

With that knowledge, how can you claim that he "lost his advantage" and thus retired because of that?

And what kind of advantage did he even have? That he was better than everyone else at recruiting and coaching? Ok.

Dude is out there in retirement trying to better college football, like he's done his entire career, and you are saying that he "ruined college football." How delusional, self-unaware, and moronic are you?

Still butthurt? Obviously. Have a
