In fact, you are of the opinion that he cannot beat a Saban ed team, are you not?

It’s the only game I don’t think he can win.

He can beat every other team.

Correct, that was a great performance that didn't happen until the 4th qtr. He fumbled the ball that led to a TD.

The data suggests that his performance was the exception, not the rule. Even a natty win, doesn't change that belief for me.

This right here is killing the spirit of college football. Like the NFL, it’s best days are in the rear view mirror

It makes recruiting the "right kind of players" for your team even more important. Of course you never know for sure but you need to try to find guys who understand development and show a willingness to wait their turn and be a team player (I know, haha). Just recruiting the highest starred guys available can end up being a disaster if they have delusions of starting right away etc.

Bennett's lack of starting experience paired with his 5'11", 190-pound frame makes it unlikely he'll be a Day 1 or 2 pick

He won’t lack starting experience next year and he is considerably bigger than the guy who just won the heisman, like several inches taller and 10 LBs heavier.

I think Young will be a much higher pick but it won’t be due to lack of experience or Bennett’s frame. Arm strength and decision making favor Young considerably. Bennett isn’t likely to play in the NFL. Then again, he wasn’t likely to ever start on a P5 team, especially winning an NC. He’s made a habit of performing better than more talented QBs both on his own team and those we face.

We have a seasons worth of data and metrics for assessing QBs.

QBR is one metric, Stetson was 3rd nationally.
Passing efficiency is another rating, Stetson was 4th nationally.

The data suggest that good/great performance by Stetson is the rule, not the exception.

I was inferring that he shouldn’t come back and you guys should find a better qb.

Just because you keep saying this doesn't make it true. Bennett's called fumble led to a FG. After that fumble (a controversial call, I might add) he threw for two TDs.
And for the record? he played well outside of the first quarter.

You just want to ignore the 52 yard bomb he threw to George Pickens in the 2nd quarter? The pass to Burton on 3rd & 9 to extend the drive that tied the game at 3?

Did he play well in the 4th quarter? Absolutely did. but to discount his contributions in the other quarters is shortsighted.

You are turning into Lucius. You just can't help yourself.

Which has absolutely nothing to do with the thread.

I posted that quote about his chances of being drafted this year. It's got nothing to do with Bryce Young's eventual draft value.
I didn't make the comment....it can from an NFL scout.

It’s not about winning anymore at all. It’s all about the NFL.

These guys have a rare, fragile, fleeting talent that can produce generational wealth with hard work and wise decisions. I don’t blame them a bit for doing what they think is in their own best interests.

Anyone on this board would move to a rival company for significantly more money. And if any one of us had a choice between getting a raise at our company or seeing that company become #1 in the market, I think we would all take the raise that benefits us.

You can’t look at CFB like it’s a game because it’s not. It’s a business and a proving ground for employment. The players and coaches are all in it for themselves and any would leave in a heartbeat for another dollar or better opportunity.

Stetson Bennett

Will be a legend to UGA fans because he won UGA’s first title in 4 decades. If you’re looking for players that could’ve transferred but didn’t then James Cook would probably be a better example for UGA. Didn’t see many touches his first 2 years, despite averaging 9 yards per touch. Stuck around and was finally utilized properly and won a ring.

Nailed it original post.

What really stinks about this whole portal thing. Kids like the ones you mentioned that would play the game for the love of it and be a great attribute to many teams are not getting looks in HS bc the schools are looking at portal players instead. It really stinks for those kids.

I'm sorry...I thought the purpose of college was to prepare all college students for the professional world. So what if a kid may think that switching schools will improve their professional marketability? Fans may not like it, but that's the very purpose of college.
